    Cathy Pearson yoga

    Cathy Pearson has been practicing meditation for over 20 years and has studied various types of yoga over the years which gives her a great repertoire to choose from when teaching her students.

    Her Vinyasa Yoga classes emphasize a deep connection with the breath, clarity and stillness of the mind, strength, balance, a graceful flow of moving mediation with the exploration of consciousness.

    Cathy – I offer many “modifications” in my classes; this basically means that one posture can be practiced in several different ways from total beginners to seasoned practitioners.

    On Saturday after breakfast, Dave will lead the group on a guided outing and we will either do a hill walk in the Burren hills or a walk by the sea.

    These guided outings are an important part of each eco yoga retreat and it is a lovely way to see some special places in the Burren well away from the usual tourist places.

     

    Hidden forest walk in Burren

     

    The secret forest has been described by one visitor as the type of place that fairies and elves live, and when they heard us coming they hid out of sight, but did not have time to take away their fairy veils and magic feelings which fill the air.

     

    During our guided outing we stop off for lunch at one of the best local restaurants or cafes.  One favourite is the Ballyvaughan tea rooms where Stephen Spielberg flew in especially to order the cheese cake.

    This retreat will focus on how we can gather strength and stay strong in our yoga practice in an enjoyable way, but don’t worry no sit ups here!

    We will explore some of the teachings about Sushumna Nadi; the channel located in the center of the spine, through which spiritual energy or Kundalini Shakti will eventually rise from.

    We will also delve into the pranayama technique of Nadi Shodhana , (alternate nostril breathing) a powerful method of balancing Ida and Pingala or our solar and lunar energies.

    On the first evening of the weekend, following a slow flow restorative session to unwind fully, Cathy will be guide you into a very special Yoga Nidra, or psychic sleep.

    This is a technique used to reach an altered state of conscious between the dream state and wakefulness. The body becomes very receptive to healing energies and very deep relaxation is induced.

    On Friday and Saturday evening Paddi the cook who has been preparing amazing vegetarian food at Burren Yoga for over 11 years will prepare a delicious vegetarian dinner.
