Mari has helped me to make my yoga practice more than just a physical practice on the mat, she has guided me in bringing it into everything I do. She has taught me to use the strength I experience in asana practice when I am faced with a challenge off the mat. I have learned to accept the dark and the bright sides of my world, as Mari has led the way with such honesty and authenticity herself. Mari is one of my life teachers and has inspired & encouraged me to train to become a yoga teacher myself, someday I hope I will get to teach alongside her. Ruth, Dublin
Description of Mindfulness meditation and yoga retreat

Who is this weekend retreat suitable for
This weekend retreat is suitable for complete beginners as well as advanced people.

Yoga and Mindfulness as doorways to Becoming Fully Alive
Most of us face many challenges in 2013 on many levels including emotional, spiritual, financial, relationship, career…. etc.
We can tend to contract and harden in our hearts, our bodies and our minds.
This weekend is an invitation to open to everything you are experiencing, allowing yourself to be fully human and find stability and freedom in the deeper truth of who you really are.
It will be a journey of coming home to yourself, to awaken and open as the Spring announces itself fully around us.

When we learn to experience life as it is rather than interpret life through the mind which wants to judge, fix and control we begin to live fully alive from a place of radical self acceptance.
We learn how to allow everything to be here, to listen deeply and become more aware and loving with the actions we choose to take in response to all the circumstances of our lives.

We will experience flowing and pausing, moving and stillness, silence and sound over the three days together. We will be consciously encouraging the body back into optimal alignment, building strength in areas of weakness and flexibility in areas of stiffness. The retreat will be a great introduction to mindfulness and self enquiry.
Throughout the weekend we will enjoy morning flow yoga and evening glow yoga classes, mindfulness meditation, conscious breath work, inquiry, Celtic wisdom, delicious yoga nidra, music and heart opening chanting.

On Saturday after breakfast, Dave will lead the group on a guided outing and we will either do a hill walk in the Burren hills or a walk by the sea.

These guided outings are an important part of each eco yoga retreat and it is a lovely way to see some special places in the Burren well away from the usual tourist places.

The secret forest has been described by one visitor as the type of place that fairies and elves live, and when they heard us coming they hid out of sight, but did not have time to take away their fairy veils and magic feelings which fill the air.
During our guided outing we stop off for lunch at one of the best local restaurants or cafes. One favourite is the Ballyvaughan tea rooms where Stephen Spielberg flew in especially to order the cheese cake.

During April we see the first of the Spring gentians which are very vivid in colour and probably the most famous wild flowers associated with the Burren

As the weekend progresses you will find yourself going deeper inside, and getting in touch with inner joy through the transformative practices Mari will share.
This weekend is suitable for both complete beginners and advanced students and each person will practice to their own ability. Each person will be encouraged to work within with their perceived limits, but to also to try to soften at those boundaries that we so often place upon ourselves. So you will be encouraged to expand and grow

On this weekend yoga and mindfulness retreat, we will explore the practices of yoga and meditation which will help us to expand our awareness, and to be mindful and open to what is happening all around us and within us moment to moment.

This weekend is an invitation to open to everything you are experiencing, allowing yourself to be fully human and find stability and freedom in the deeper truth of who you really are.

We will use mindfulness meditation, yoga, coaching and chanting/sound to inquire and play.

On Friday and Saturday evening Paddi the cook who has been preparing amazing vegetarian food at Burren Yoga for over 11 years will prepare a delicious vegetarian dinner.

If this is your first time to come to Burren Yoga, please be reassured you will not go hungry…. just read the reviews

This weekend is suitable for complete beginners to advanced and each person will practice to their own ability. Each person will be encouraged to work within your own limits, but to also to try to push back those boundaries that we often place upon ourselves.

When we become mindful, we learn how to step back, create space so that we can more clearly see our tendencies and habits of reacting, avoiding and self rejection.
