From Athenry take the Limerick train as far as Gort.
From Gort take a taxi to centre. (See Taxi Tab above)
If you are flying in to Dublin airport, it is recommended that you take the ‘Go Bus’ from the airport to Galway city, and not to travel in to Dublin city in order to take the train.

Do NOT take a bus to Kinvara.
It is best to take the bus to Gort as it is easy to get to the centre by taxi from Gort. There are no reliable taxis in Kinvara.
From Dublin city or Dublin airport
Catch a bus to Galway city and then taxi direct to the centre.
You can save some money by taking a second bus from Galway city to Gort, and then Gort is a 6 miles journey by taxi.

Airports to choose from
There are 6 airports you can fly into which are listed below in the order of preference.
Which airport will i fly into?
Consider
- flights are cheaper on Thursday or Monday so you could book an
Extra nights stay at the centre - the cost of the flight and the times and dates available
- ease and time of getting from the airport to the centre
- and also cost of this
- and whether your own nearest airport links directly with the airport
Please note
New routes are being introduced all the time, especially by companies such as ryanair, flybe, easyjet, aer arann and others. The information below may not be the latest story.Shannon airport
Fairly large airport with flights from many international airports.
Shannon airport website (recommended big airport, easy access to centre)

Possible to travel by bus to Gort and then taxi from there. Can take 2 hours depending on bus times.
Bus Eireann website See ‘Printed Timetables’ ‘Expressway Long Distance services’ and see Route Cork Limerick Shannon airport Galway. Get off at Gort, and centre is 6 miles away.

Small airport but you may be lucky to get a cheap flight there.

Flights from London Southend, Luton, Manchester, Edinburgh, Lorient.
Reduced fare taxi costs approx 45 Euro direct to the centre, and takes approx 40 minutes.
Galway airport is about 15 minutes drive from Galway city. There is no bus, so one would need to take a taxi to Galway city, bus station if one wanted to catch a bus to Gort, and then another taxi to the centre. This bus and two taxi’s is probably not any cheaper than one single taxi direct to the centre.
Much much easier and quicker to take the Reduced fare taxi direct to the centre.

Buses take between 2 & 3 hours to Galway city. Please check the bus timetable and try to select ‘direct to Galway’ rather than ‘via Dublin city’. And then you have a 30 minute taxi ride from Galway city to the centre. ‘Go Bus’ is the fastest bus company.

Hiring a car
You may like to hire a car for your stay. This gives you the freedom to explore the Burren and the rest of Ireland if you wish.
What if i come by bus or taxi and don’t bring a car?
Most of the locations we visit are between 10 and 30 minutes drive from the centre.
We usually take turns in driving, so that the same people are not driving all the time.
Usually on all courses there are enough people in cars to give lifts to those who don’t have a car.
If there are not enough cars on any particular course (which has happened twice over 7 years), we go on local walks around the centre, and up into the hills at the back of the centre.
So having a car gives you independence and freedom to go where you want, but it is also fine if you wish to arrive by taxi.
To get a quote on hiring a car
There are a number of car hire companies and it is best to get a quote from a number of companies if you are looking for the cheapest deal.

Arranging lifts
If you are travelling here by public transport, and would like us to try to arrange a lift for you, please state this in the comments box at the end of your booking form, and state where you would like the lift from.
On the Wednesday 2 days before the course begins, i will try to find a lift for you by checking who else is coming on the retreat who has offered to give someone a lift.
If nobody has offered a lift from the town you are coming from, there is more information at the TAB Public Transport.
