Nowadays in the West, some people place a lot of emphasis on the physical postures or asanas, and sometimes leave out the cornerstone of yoga which is meditation.
Traditionally there are 8 limbs of yoga, and asana is only one of the limbs.

What is Yoga?However, some of the benefits of a strong physical practice can include

Ron Reid from Toronto Canada spend some time at Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre and really enjoyed his time exploring the surrounding countryside as well as enjoying the heat and sunshine in the yoga room ;-)

Ron had already been practicing many years, and is also fortunate enough to have the flexibility and strength as well as clear focus and a sustained practice to bring him to these levels of advanced yoga postures.

Marla Meenakshi is Ron's partner and they are both amazing musicians as well as two of the leading yoga teachers in Canada.

Oksana is from the Ukraine and she also spent a week at the Burren Yopga and Meditation Centre just doing her own practice, hanging out and also exploring the amazing beautiful Burren countryside.

The Burren

Oksana spend many hours each day enjoying the heat and sunshine in the Burren Yoga room and she said that the heat and very clear energies in the yoga room inspired her practice and brought a joy that filled her heart during her stay.

In the summertime we often close the curtains to maintain a constant heat, and sometimes open the windows wide to allow the fresh clean air of the Burren and the Atlantic ocean to waft through the room.

Oksana's practice and also her teaching tend to be very organic in nature, and she allows her teaching to flow on an intuitive level with each student rather than sticking to a set standard sequence of postures.

There are many yoga weekend and week long courses on offer at the Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre which is on the west coast of Ireland.
5 miles from the sea, and our daily organised outdoor activities include walks in the Burren hills and on the beaches on the Atlantic ocean.
Other activities include sailing, surfing and swimming.
