There are 4 airports you can fly into which are listed below in the order of preference unless you happen to live near an airport which flys direct to Knock.

- the cost of the flight and the times and dates available (may be worth staying at the centre an extra night to get a cheap flight)
- ease and time of getting from the airport to the centre
- and also cost of this
- and whether your nearest airport links directly with the airport (click the airport links above to find more information)

Shannon
Fairly large airport with flights from many international airports.
Reduced taxi fare costs approx 50 Euro, takes approx 50 minutes to centre, may be possible to share taxi (see taxi information below).
Possible to travel by bus to Gort and then taxi from there.
Can take 2 hours depending on bus times.
Shannon airport (recommended big airport, easy access to centre)
Galway
Small airport but you may be lucky to get a cheap flight there.
Reduced taxi fare costs approx 30 Euro, takes approx 40 minutes to centre.
Flights from Glasgow, Luton, Manchester, Edinburgh, Bermingham, Lorient.
Galway airport (easy access to centre, small airport)
Dublin
Largest main airport of Ireland with flights from many international and also smaller airports.
Consider how you will get from Dublin to the centre. Car journey takes between 4 and 7 hours depending on traffic.
Bus takes approx 5 hours to Galway city. And then you have a 30 minute taxi ride from there.

(4 to 6 hour car drive, or up to 7 hours by 3 buses)
From Dublin airport to the centre
Knock
Very small airport 30 minutes North of Galway.
Flights from Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, Stansted.
May be difficult to get from Knock to the centre. Probable bus of 40 minutes to Galway and then taxi from Galway to centre.

Reduced fare taxi rates from Shannon & Galway airport and Gort bus stopYou can save a small amount of money by taking the Galway bus from Shannon airport and getting off in Gort.
Public transport to the centreHowever, it is recommended to contact the reduced taxi rate above and see if you can share a taxi with someone else. This may be as cheap as the bus.
Hiring a car
You may like to hire a car for your stay. This gives you the freedom to explore the Burren and the rest of Ireland if you wish.
Cheap flights & airline websites
Both Ryan Air and Aer Lingus offer cheap flights. Best to check their websites and remember it may be cheaper to fly one way with Ryan air and the opposite journey with Aer Lingus.
Good idea to consider the other airlines below.
