Description of workshop
The Iyengar yoga method uses a precise and systematic approach to yoga, beginners start with simple asanas according to individual ability. Progress is gradually made by adding more detail and refinement. People of all fitness need to start at the beginning to build on a foundation of correct practice and understanding. Each asana is studied in depth, practicing in this way focuses and quietens the mind.
Yoga can be seen as a tool which helps us locate our inner connection, it is where we reunite with our higher power, our purpose for life. Yoga energises, relaxes, strengthens and promotes correct breathing. Asanas build stamina and improve concentration making one feel benefited with a positive outlook, enthusiasm and a general sense of self awareness.
Jenny also teaches pranayama and meditation. Pranayama calms and strengthens the mind and creates a feeling of internal space uses breathing techniques of inhalation (puraka), exhalation (recaka) and retention (kumbhaka), extending, expanding and refining the breath.
The objective of meditation is to withdraw from the constant distraction of the physical realm of the senses and the outgoing facilities by stilling the mind, concentrating our awareness.
Regular practice of yoga, pranayama and meditation establishes a habit, a part of ones life. Yoga and meditation practiced together becomes a beautiful experience.
Jenny teaches regularly in North Wales and Chester, she is also a member of the Friends of the Western Buddhist order and teaches on retreats in Shropshire and Scotland.
There will be the usual outdoor trips to the Burren and walks by the sea.
