Course Description Iyengar style Yoga & Meditation & Relaxation
The instructors on this course will be Orla Punch from Dublin and Dave Brocklebank.
For more information on Orla, please see
http://www.orlapunchyoga.com/
Orla's manner and enthusiasm for yoga is infectious and she often has everyone laughing one minute and the next you are doing some posture you thought you would not be able to do ;-)
Her many years of dedicated practice, and her continued attendance at higher level Iyengar workshops give her the experience to make quite deep adjustments to beginners and advanced alike where they are required. Most of the time, her guidance and a simple touch in the right place are enough for you to correct your alignment and go deeper into the posture.
Dave has a gentle but disciplined approach to intoruding meditation to beginners and guides people clearly and carefully into the sitting practice. His instruction includes adjustments to find the right sitting posture for you, clear step by step instructions for the meditation technqiue, and each day his guidance becomes more subtle and less verbal so that by the end of the week, you are practicing by yourself, ready to continue when you get home.
Who it is suitable for
The yoga classes begin quite gently and these classes are suitable for all ages, whether fit or unfit, large or small.
The instruction is given in such a way that experienced practitioners can practice at a deeper level of awareness, while the classes are also suitable for beginners to Yoga.
This week long retreat is an ideal opportunity to get away from the usual stresses and strains of everyday life and to immerse yourself in a tranquil Yoga filled week to refresh and cleanse your inner being. Do people come on their own or with someone else ?
Most people come on the own from all different parts of the country and also some from abroad who fly into Shannon.
The atmosphere is quite easy going and friendly and warm, so its the type of centre where you arrive and before you know you feel at home.
Sometimes people do come in pairs if they also happen to have a friend who enjoys yoga weekends too.
Is it cold in Winter ?
The centre has underfloor heating throughout the building. So even if the weather gets cold outside, it is nice and cosy inside. This includes the Yoga room and the dorms at night.
September is often warm and sunny but as always the weather in Ireland is unpredictable.
Staying an additional night
This may enable you to get a cheaper flight. You need to check this with the centre and it depends on availability.
