Mid Summer yoga party
Steps to book a place
- Read this section carefully
- Decide what your first preference class you would like to attend. Pranayama and Meditation classes should be open to all, so no need to reserve these.
- Book by phoning centre and paying your €100 deposit by visa or master card
- When you arrive, pay the remaining 100 euro and then sign up for other classes on offer.
Description
This weekend will be a celebration of yoga.
It will be a more party spirit where you can come to mingle and mix with yoga practitioners and yoga teachers from all over.
There will be many different teachers teaching on the weekend, and a list of classes and who will be teaching each class will be posted on the website closer to the date.
As you book onto the course (Deposit of €100 required) you will be given a choice of which yoga class you would like to attend. First people to book get first choice. Booking has already started.
Pranayama, Meditation classes, should be open to all, so no need to reserve these.
We expect there to be at least 8 classes taught over the weekend by different teachers. See list below.
This will be a great chance to hear what's going on around the country from other yoga practitioners and other yoga centre organizers and teachers. And to also swap yoga techniques and stories with other like minded people.
There will also be music over the weekend, so please do not book onto the party weekend if you are looking for a peaceful tranquil retreat.
We apologise in advance if some of the exhuberance carries over into the night and the usual silence and tranquility of the Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre becomes one of
music, fun and festivity for this very special weekend of the year.
There is usually only about 3 hours of semi darkness at this time of year, so many people will probably stay up to see the sun rise.
There will be no alcohol at this party, and people are asked to bring some fruit juices or other soft drinks with them.
If you have drums or rattles, or other musical instruments please bring these with you.

Meals
Food will be served by Paddi the now famous cook formerly of Seventh Heaven restuarant from Galway city.
Due to the large numbers of people, we will be using paper plates and cups, and plastic cutlery. Please bring your own plates, cups and cutlery if you prefer.
Accommodation
We expect very large numbers of yoga practitioners and yoga teachers to attend, so please bring a sleeping bag with you.
If you have a tent, bring that also as floor space will be at a premium ;-)
Yoga room and stone circle
The plan is to teach the yoga classes in the yoga room, while others not taking the class may hang out in the stone circle outside.
Cost & Payment information
The cost of the weekend is €200 and includes 3 meals a day (from lunch Friday - lunch Monday), and at least one yoga class, and all the fun and festivities you can absorb and emit in this first ever Mid Summer Yoga party in Ireland.
People will begin to arrive after noon Friday and may stay until noon Monday.
There is the one fixed price whether you arrive late or leave early.
The deposit of €100 is subject to the usual booking conditions at
Booking on a course Deposit conditionsThe reduced taxi rate scheme does not apply to this weekend.
Friends of yours ?
You do not have to practice yoga to come along and have fun and just hang out with all the other yoga people, so tell your friends about this big party!
Suggestions
If you have suggestions on what you would like to see during the yoga weekend, then mail me your suggestions to burrenyoga@yahoo.com
Washing and toilet facilities
There are 4 bathrooms; each with toilet, handbasin, shower. One has a large bath. These will be available to people to use on the weekend, but with the large numbers of people, it will be encouraged that one uses these as quickly as possible.
Indoors and outdoors
As usual, we do do wear shoes in doors. Any shoes worn outdoors (even if they are slippers) cannot be worn inside the house. So it might be a good idea to wear slip on shoes or clogs to make it easy for yourself if you need to go indoors to use the loo or soemthing else.
Sleeping indoors
Indoor space is very limited so please come prepared to sleep outdoors. Please do not ask to reserve indoor space.
Things to bringA lot of time will be spent outdoors so please bring useful things to sit on the grass, stay warm if required, stay dry if required, protect from sun burn ;-) and generally be prepared for the variety of things that life brings us especially the Irish weather.
Useful things include
- Tent
- Sleeping bag
- Blanket or rug or plastic sheet for sitting out doors
- Yoga mat and sitting cushion
- Rain gear, walking boots/shoes
- Drums, rattles, chimes, tambourines etc.
- Directions to the centre (Print these out)
- Open mind and plenty of love ;-)
- Wet suit, swimming gear either for lake or to go swimming with the dolphin.
We expect a large number of people at this weekend celebration so please think about bringing
- Your own cutlery
- Your onw cups/glasses
- Bowl for musli in morning
- Paper plates will be used to serve the food
How far to the shops?
Those of you who have been here already know that the centre is in a very remote place at the foot of the Burren hills. The nearest shops are in Kinvara (5 miles) and 6 miles to Gort.
Other local places to see
There are very many beautiful locations, ancient sites, to see in the area. So if you have a car all the better. But please try to pool share if driving so that each car is reasonably full when you arrive.
Best and closest parking will be reserved for those people offering lifts via the car pool scheme and those cars which are full.
- Dolmens and stone forts in Burren
- Burren perfumery
- Mulloughmore hill to climb or walk around (where the Burren Interpretative centre had been planned)
- Cliffs of Moher
- Flaggy shore and Linnane's lobster bar
- Ballyvaughan and Monk's seafood restuarant
- Ballyvaughan's Italian vegetarian cafe (best pizza in Ireland!)
- Kinvara village
- Fanore beach for swimming
- Swimming with the dolphin (3 miles past Fanore beach)
- Lough Bunny for swimming or just chilling out
- And dozens of more places in the Burren and by the sea
Looking forward to seeing you here,
Dave
