VINIYOGA APPROACH TO YOGAViniyoga approach to Yoga makes Yoga relevant to every person and every
situation.
This means that the poses and practices are adapted to suit the
individual
needs and circumstances.
In a therapeutic situation Viniyoga is often taught on individual
bases.
The different techniques being used are movements, postures, breath,
voice
work, diet, meditation, study and reflection
In an asana practice
Viniyoga encourages the use of slow, repetitive movements linked with
the
breathing a system that is safe for all ages and levels of fitness.
Repetitive slow movements linked with the breath is a powerful tool in
developing a student's mental and physical well being, clarity and
insight
The practices often finish with seated breathing
The use of sound/chanting is also part of regular practice
Meditation practices will always include Pranayama (seated breathing)
and chanting
AWARENESS IN ACTION
Yoga is something we experience inside deep within our being. Yoga is
not an
external experience. In Yoga we try in every action to be as attentive
as
possible to
every thing we do.
Taken from Heart of Yoga by Desikachar
We will explore how we can bring ourselves more to the moment rather
than
the end result.
Through practicing:
Asana (postures)
Pranayama (seated breathing)
Sound work/chanting
Meditation practices
