Help fund our new Retreat centre
Help fund the new building which will become the new Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre.
Closing date for your donations
We have extended the closing date in order to give more time to receive donations.
We need to receive your donations whenever you can afford to support us.
Ammount rasied so far
We have received 15% of our target figure in donations over the past 10 months.
Even if you can’t afford to help us financially at present, there are some other things you can do to help us raise our funds.
None of us are rich these days….. but as someone reminded me there is power in numbers
And there are many people who have been here to the centre already…… and there are many other people out there who are practicing yoga….and if each person gave €10 we would have our bank target collected quite quickly.
Please see below “How to make your donation” and i will email you bank details.
If you can’t afford to donate at all…… please consider one of the other ways to help…next…
Recommending us to your friends
Please see how you could improve the numbers coming on our courses, and also how you will receive a discount off your next course here.
Please ‘Share’ a link to this page on your Facebook
Many of us have very little money these days and may not be able to support financially at the moment…. but hopefully you can help us get the word out there?
It takes less than one minute to add a link to this page from your Facebook page…… but could help us enormously…especially if you add a nice supportive comment.
Please ‘Download a poster’ for a noticboard
Please click here to download a 1 page A4 poster for your noticeboard at your workplace or yoga centre or health food shop.
Consider organising a fund raising event
One of our previous course participants suggested that i ask the yoga teachers who teach here… or other people who believe in what we are doing… to organize possibly a coffee morning or some other event and to collect donations at this event to contribute towards the funding.
If you would like to organize such an event or have any other suggestions, please let us know.
Background of the centre
The Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre has been providing yoga and meditation retreats since 1999, and the founder Dave Brocklebank has been working over the past few years to bring about this new state of the art retreat centre which will be sustainable for the long term.
These retreats are suitable for complete beginners as well as regular yoga practitioners, and The Burren is an ideal location for a holiday retreat, either for a weekend or a full week. We have course participants from 14 years old to 70 years old.
Yoga and Meditation are ideal for stress reduction, improving physical & mental health and wellbeing, fitness, flexibility, peace of mind, learning how to get in touch with one’s heart centre, being of benefit to others, bringing love and light to everything we do.
The money raised by donations will be used as a deposit in addition to Dave’s life’s savings to secure a mortgage from the bank to build the new building.
Dave has been practicing meditation since 1978 and yoga since 1988 and had the vision to setup the Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre in order to pass on the most transformational techniques he has come across in his life.
The centre has been running approx 40 residential retreats all year round for the past few years, and many people have benefitted and still benefit from this unique retreat environment.
The courses combine
- the best of instruction in yoga and meditation by teachers Dave has handpicked
- amazing vegetarian food by Paddi the chef who used to run Seventh Heaven restaurant in Galway city for over 12 years
- and outdoor activities in the Burren hills and by the sea.
Currently the retreats offered at the Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre take place in Dave’s house while he and his wife and their baby live in a mobile home on the same grounds.
This new building project will bring the comfort levels for guests and the facilities to much higher standards, thus ensuring the survival of this unique retreat centre for the future.
The atmosphere on the retreats is very relaxed and friendly, and the emphasis is to have a great ‘get away from it all’ break, while supporting Dave’s aspiration to teach the best of yoga and meditation to people in the most beneficial enjoyable environment.
A huge part of these retreats is to spend time in Nature and the outings into this amazing landscape of the Burren are organised by Dave who takes the groups out on their walks, or surfing, canoeing, horse riding and visiting local attractions such as ancient sites, the Cliffs of Moher and many more.
If you have not been here yet, the best way to get a feeling is to watch the 6 minute video which includes some interviews with course participants, shows some yoga classes, outdoor activities and the type of people who come on these courses.

Why we need your funding
Over the past 10 years all the profits have been ploughed back into the yoga centre and have included such things as
- Restaurant quality plates, kitchen ware and cutlery
- Hotel quality mattresses
- Egyptian cotton bedlinen and towels
- Ongoing architects & engineers fees for new yoga centre
- Many more areas
As a result, our savings in the bank are not sufficient, and the bank refuse to give us a mortgage for the new building unless we can raise a further €20,000.
I will also put my own life’s savings into funding this new building.
By receiving a donation from yourself, this helps reduce the amount of money that we will have to borrow from the bank.
Once we secure a confirmation from the bank for the mortgage, we can then apply to get the remaining funding required by means of a grant.
When do we need your donations
We need to receive your donations by 20th April 2012
Timeline for the building project

- 2014 January open our doors to yourselves to come to this new centre.
How to make your donation
Please send an email
with the subject of “Donation funding” and include your Name, Address, Contact phone number.
We will then send you bank details so that you can transfer your donation either by 24-hour on-line banking, or by filling in a deposit slip at your own bank, or by posting a cheque to us.
This way, the banks will not take any percentage from your donation as they normally do with a credit card donation.
However, if you prefer to make a credit card donation because it is easier for you to do, then you can do this by Paypal or by Visa or Master or Laser card by phoning Dave at the centre.
Please contact Dave for any further information on our phone number in the footer area of this website or by email
May many people benefit by the provision of this retreat centre over the years to come.
Many thanks for your interest in our project.
Best Wishes,
Dave Brocklebank
