Description of course
This Ashtanga retreat is an opportunity to practice under the guidance of Richard Spahn, one of the most experienced Ashtanga teachers who visit Ireland from time to time.
This course is
a must for any ashtanga practitioner or anyone who is interested in learning how to practice ashtanga yoga.
This course is for people who wish to learn and deepen the Ashtanga yoga practice.
There will be plenty of outdoor activities in the Burren and surrounding areas.

Cost of the course
The cost of the course is reduced to €690 and includes accommodation and vegetarian meals.
The food is cooked by Paddi the gourmet vegetarian chef who ran Seventh Heaven the well known restuarant in Galway city.
A single room costs €120 extra.
We eat lunch out locally and you will need to pay for this yourself.
Prices to attend part of a courseAdditional nights stay at the centre
To avail of a cheaper flight you may like to stay an extra night or two. Cost is €35 per night. No meals included.
Availability of staying an extra night will only be known 1 week before the course start date, and will depend on the numbers attending the previous weeks course.
If the centre is full, you could always stay that night in Kinvara village with one of the many b&b’s.
Who is the course suitable for
This course is suitable for beginners as well as advanced people.
Richard has been teaching for 20 years and is well able to handle different level students within the class.
Beginners will be gradually taken through the different asanas and vinyasas (breathing).
More advanced practitioners who know the series will practice at their own pace getting adjustments and being led further into the practice.
This course is for people who wish to deepen their exisitng practice, or to learn the physical practice of ashtanga yoga.
Instructors
Richard Spahn has studied Astanga with Pattabhi Jois and has been teaching Ashtanga for nearly 20 years !
Richard began practicing yoga nearly 30 years ago in the early 80's. He began with the spiritual styles of Sivinanda among others, and also with the precision and attention to physical posture of Iyengar yoga.
Richard was introduced to ashtanga by Cliff Barber and then studied for several years with Shri Pattabhi Jois in India.
Later in the 80's many people asked Richard to teach them a little of what he knew, and he began teaching regularily in Goa in the late eighties.

Richard is one of the most experienced Ashtanga teachers to visit and teach in Ireland.
He has a long experience of both practice and teaching to draw on, and his gentle but attentive manner is very calming and non judgmental as he often offers only a finger to point the way to one opening up further in a posture, or a gentle adjustment to align the body better during his Ashtanga class.
He places a large focus on the breath, and enables people to enter deeply into one's inner space without forcing or pushing during this continuous strong and challenging practice.
