Ashtanga and Meditation
Apr 28th - May 1st 2006 Bank holiday weekend
Description of course
This course will include Ashtanga classes by Ciara Cronin and Meditation classes by Dave Brocklebank
This yoga is a challenging dynamic form of yoga where one works quite strongly with the physical body.
The goal of the course is to improve your Ashtanga practice so that you may practice at home after the course.
And also introduce you to meditation so that you can continue on your own at home.
There will also be an outdoor trip into the Burren on Saturday.
Cost of the course
The cost of the course is €350 and includes accommodation and vegetarian meals.
The food is cooked by Paddi the gourmet vegetarian chef who ran Seventh Heaven the well known restuarant in Galway city.
A single room costs €50 extra.
Additional nights stay at the centre
To avail of a cheaper flight you may like to stay an extra night or two. Cost is €30 per night. No meals included.
Who is the course suitable for
Suitable for beginners to intermediate, but one should be reasonably fit, as the Asthanga yoga is quite dynamic.
Instructors
Ciara Cronin is a yoga teacher and also a qualified holistic therapist. She is a very dedicated practitioner of Astanga and goes to many workshops and practices daily.

She has studied ashtanga yoga with Pattabhi Jois, Graham Northfield, Chuck Miller and Shiva Rea, among others.
Ciara brings her broad experience of meditation and holistic health to her teaching style; focusing on attention to form, integration of breath and cultivation of awareness.
Creating a supportive environment and taking to heart each student’s experience, Ciara addresses individual needs and encourages a deep and focused practice in class.
Attention is directed to building core strength and proper alignment while cultivating and sustaining an inner calm.

Ciara used to be the health editor of Source, Ireland’s first alternative lifestyle magazine and has written holistic health columns for several national newspapers.
Dave Brocklebank designed and built this beautiful purpose designed yoga centre in 1999 with the view to providing an ideal retreat space in which to truely practice and learn yoga and meditation.
He began meditating in 1978 and began practising Yoga in 1989 with the Galway school of Yoga and Meditation which is Satyananda based.
He completed the 2-year Satyananda yoga teacher training with Shradhmurti and Chetanmurti in the Galway school of Yoga and Meditation. He has attended numberous workshops since then (too many to mention) with teachers of many traditions from all over the world.

His teaching of meditation is very clear and understandable for beginners and for advanced meditators alike.
The meditation technique is breath focus and mindfulness.
As the course progresses, he gives less and less instructions, so that one is able to follow the practice without any guidance at the end of the course.

In addition to Dave's yoga lifestyle, he also attends Buddhist teachings and tries to bring these teachings into his own life and dealings with people.
Dave runs the Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre, co-ordinating courses, facilitating workshops and teaching Yoga and Meditation himself. He also maintains his own daily practice of Yoga and Meditation, and regularly attends Yoga workshops throughout the year.
