Ashtanga & Vinyasa Flow with Niamh Jones Oct03

Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow

October 3rd - 5th 2008

Description of course

This course will include Dynamic Vinyasa Flow and Ashtanga sequences classes by Niamh Jones

This yoga is a challenging dynamic form of yoga where one works quite strongly with the physical body.

The goal of the course is to improve your Ashtanga practice without getting too cuaght up in a rigid sequence, so that you may practice at home after the course.

And also introduce you to Ashtanga so that you can continue on your own at home.

There will also be an outdoor trip into the Burren on Saturday.

Cost of the course

The cost of the course is €300 and includes accommodation and vegetarian meals.

The food is cooked by Paddi the gourmet vegetarian chef who ran Seventh Heaven the well known restuarant in Galway city.

A single room costs €60 extra.

Additional nights stay at the centre

To avail of a cheaper flight you may like to stay an extra night or two. Cost is €35 per night. No meals included.

Who is the course suitable for

Suitable for beginners to intermediate, but one should be reasonably fit, as the Asthanga yoga is quite dynamic.

If you are a beginner to yoga, please read What type of yoga is best for me ?

Dynamic Vinyasa Flow Yoga

Dynamic Vinyasa Flow Yoga is based on the flow of Ashtanga Yoga linking postures with breath. It is strong and challenging creating a sustained meditative flow. It strengthens, tones and enhances flexibility and also energises and balances the body creating heat from within which in turn detoxifies your entire system.

Dynamic Yoga uses specially sequenced movements which are organised so that the body releases, strengthens and integrates gradually and easily.. Strength and flexibility are side effects to real benefits such as increased self-confidence, the ability to stay focused and calm in stressful situations and above all to feel more connected to all aspects of yourself.

A typical class would begin with conscious breathing (Pranayama) hip/shoulder warm-ups then flow into some Sun Salutations and Standing postures. Followed by some backbends, forward bends and twists ending with Inversion work (e.g. handstands and headstands) and Deep relaxation.
