Description of course


This course is both a Detox and a yoga course, and also a course where you can learn more about food and nutrition.

Rejuvenate and revitalise in beautiful peaceful surroundings.

An ideal time to Detox and get ready for the summer with tips on preparing raw delicious food for yourself, information on juicing, sprouting and food combining which you can use yourself after the course. Recipes for all the food prepared on the course included in the handout.

This course will include classes on Nutrition, Sprouting, Juicing, Raw foods, and healthy tips for your eating by Miriam Gormally.

It also includes Yoga classes taught by Melissa Prouty.

Mel is a very experienced yoga teacher and is continually undergoing further training as well as daily practice herself.

The course includes SATYA or somatic work to facilitate lymphatic drainage throughout the body.

In addition, gentle postures serve to increase the circulation of lymph as postures stimulate movement in the connective tissues, organs, and skin.

Postures help develop spatial clarity. As one extends out through the limbs to the periphery, one is working to facilitate the movement and drainage of lymph to the peripheral areas.

A yoga practice is training to ward off that which is unwanted.

The food on this course will be very light and nutritious and to get the best from the Detox, it is recommended that you modify what you eat for a number of days or weeks before the course.

Cost of the course


The cost of the course is reduced to €300 and includes accommodation, yoga classes and vegetarian detox meals.

The food is prepared by Miriam Gormally who will be giving the talks on food.

A single room costs €60 extra for the weekend.

Additional nights stay at the centre


To avail of a cheaper flight you may like to stay an extra night or two. Cost is €35 per night. No meals included.

Who is the course suitable for


Suitable for anyone who would like to take time out to Detox, and/or to learn about Detox and a healthy diet and to practice some gentle yoga.

Instructors


Miriam Gormally is a yoga teacher and has a wide experience of cooking and also in preparing food for Detoxing and healthy eating.



Her big love is growing and preparing healthy nutritious food.

She does research and displays in the area of Detox and food and works as a radio journalist speculating in spirituality, justice and ecological living. Part of her work involves research and designing displays for promoting healthy eating amongst children. She has also studied macrobioticsand attended courses in optimal eating for health.

She also believes in supporting local organic markets, and provides help to individuals growing their own organic vegetables. She is an avid sprouter with plenty of personal experience in growing as well as in preparing and cooking the food.

Melissa Prouty is a yoga teacher originally from the US and living in Ireland for the past few years. She is a very dedicated practitioner of many forms of yoga and meditation.

She came to yoga while living in Los Angeles from a strong martial arts (Muay Thai & Tai Chi), gymnastics, and snowboarding background.

Melissa quickly learned to appreciate the softer, gentler & quiet side of yoga. In addition, Melissa also feels that yoga is a perfect cross training practice for various of other traditional sports, dance, and other activities. Melissa feels blessed to have studied yoga amongst some of the best teachers LA has to offer.

Melissa has practiced various different forms of yoga including Ashtanga, Iyengar, Yin, and Kundalini from teachers around the world.

She has completed Teacher Training with David Muehsam at the Burren Yoga & Meditation center after a few years of teaching yoga abroad while living and traveling in Africa.

And as a dedicated yoga teacher and practitioner, Melissa continues to undertake further yoga teacher training.

Melissa’s zest for sharing the joys of yoga and her commitment to safety in her classes has inspired Melissa to embark upon her 500 hour certification with Yoga Anatomy Guru Tias Little at Prajna Yoga in Santa Fe, NM which she will complete next year. Melissa’s studies with Tias include trigger point work, myo-fascial release, marma point therapy, and a deeper study of the ancient teachings of yoga.

Melissa teaches a mix of her own including different techniques from several schools of yoga as she firmly believes that yoga is for all bodies regardless of strength and flexibility – the key is to find the right yoga for the individual.

Melissa encourages students to draw the awareness inwards and work within one’s own abilities.

For Melissa, yoga is not about who can hold a posture the longest or go deeper, but yoga is truly about communing with the DIVINE spirit and energy within oneself.
