Drupon Sangyas is from the Kagyupa lineage, which is said to be the most Yogic of all Buddhist lineages, and is the lineage which contains such secret practices as the six yogas of Naropa.
Drupon Sangyas
I was born in the middle of the Himalaya' mountain range - in Ladakh.
Being once part of Tibet, about 100 years ago it was an independent kingdom, then it was taken over by British India. Now it is part of India. The language, culture, traditions, religion is still Tibetan.
When I was 9 years old, my parents decided to send me to the Lama Yuru monastery. The monastery was famous with Naropa cave, where Naropa was meditating for many years. I spend 6 years in the monastery. After that His Holiness Drikung Kagyu - Chetsan Rinpoche, who stayed 3 years in retreat at Lama Yuru monastery, took me to the Tibetan Monastery of Drikung Kagyu institute in Northern India.
H.H. Chetsan Rinpoche became my root teacher. Over the years I have also had several teachers. I spent 9 years at the institute, learning rituals, basic philosophy, and meditation.
After finishing the institute, H.H. Chetsan Rinpoche decided to sent me to three year retreat to the place of meditation Almora in Himalaya mountains. Before that I had 2 years of preliminary retreat meditation. All-together it made 5.5 years of meditation in retreat.

After finishing retreat, I felt like staying all my life in Himalaya, but my root teacher decided to sent me to Europe to teach at Drikung Kagyu centers. Since the Estonian group was asking him to send a resident lama for their center in Tallinn, he choose Estonia as the base place for me, that I could travel to other places and centers from there.
The biggest difficulty was, that I knew only Tibetan and some Hindi at that time, which was not useful. After learning some English, i started to accept invitations from other centers and since then I travel to neighboring Latvia, Germany, Finland, and now Ukraine as well. My process of learning English is still going on. Dave Brocklebank designed and built this beautiful purpose designed yoga centre in 1999 with the view to providing an ideal retreat space in which to truely practice and learn yoga and meditation.
He began meditating in 1978 and began practising Yoga in 1989 with the Galway school of Yoga and Meditation which is Satyananda based.
He completed the 2-year Satyananda yoga teacher training with Shradhmurti and Chetanmurti in the Galway school of Yoga and Meditation. He has attended numberous workshops since then (too many to mention) with teachers of many traditions from all over the world.

His classes begin with very gentle loosening up postures which help prepare the body for the stronger postures which are introduced after a number of months. He introduces Pranayama right from day one, and a large emphasis is placed on the awareness of the practitioner rather than their physical ability.
His experience with Iyengar and Astanga yoga bring a detailed approach to correct alignment of the body in order to assume the posture while respecting the limits of one's body.

In addition to Dave's yoga lifestyle, he also attends Buddhist teachings and tries to bring these teachings into his own life and dealings with people.
Dave runs the Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre, co-ordinating courses, facilitating workshops and teaching Yoga and Meditation himself. He also maintains his own daily practice of Yoga and Meditation, and regularly attends Yoga workshops throughout the year.
