Description of course
This Hatha yoga retreat week will include an introduction to the Chakras which are energy centres within the body. The week retreat will also include hatha yoga classes, breathwork, relaxation and yoga Nidra and working with one’s awareness.
Emphasis is placed on working with one's awareness, rather than on focussing on one's physical capabilities.
This course is reasonably gentle and includes
- asana (yoga postures)
- Pranayama (breahtwork)
- Yoga Nidra deep relaxation
- Meditation
The goal of the course is to introduce you to this heart felt yoga practice and to introduce knowledge of the chakras which is an integral part of any yoga practice. This weekend will help you to gain a greater understanding of what they symbolise.
This course will help you to develop your practice through awareness of the different chakras (energy centres) in the body.
The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with an established practice who may like to come along to deepen your yoga practice, and learn to tune inwards more deeply.
One big difference between attending regular weekly yoga classes and going away on a week yoga retreat is that being in a yoga environment alows one break away from the normal life patterns and responsibilities which in turn allows one to experience the practices and their effects to a deeper level in more tranquil surroundings.
To get a good idea of what the week will be like, it is a good idea to see the 6 minute video on the home page
6 minute Video on our Summer Yoga holiday retreatsThere will also be organised outdoor trips into the Burren each day.

Instructor
Grainne Mclaughlin who's yogic name is
Vedanta, has practiced many different forms of hatha yoga over the years, and eventually she came across Satyananda yoga and
she fell in love with the philosophy and style of this type of teaching.
The Sri Yantra behind Grainne in this photo is one of the Ancient yoga symbols over 3000 years old.

Grainne completed her 2 year Satyananda yoga teacher training at the Galway yoga and meditation school with Swamis Shraddha Murti and Chetan Murti and is accredited by the Bihar school of yoga and the British wheel of yoga.
Her training included indepth study of yoga asana (yoga postures), breathwork, yoga Nidra, work with the chakras and meditation. Her training also included yoga philosophy, chanting, ajapa jap, ethical precepts, and meditation.

Grainne's teaching is heart felt, and she encourages you to get in touch with inner feelings and eventually inner energies as you practice the asanas.
There is more emphasis placed on how one feels, rather than focusing on external alignment within the postures.
Grainne continues to train in yoga and meditation with her teachers and other senior teachers in the tradition.

Grainne is also a highly skilled complimentary therapist with comprehensive anatomy and physiology training, she works as a therapist in cancer care and end of life.
