Stillness of the mind through Yoga
April 24th - 26th 2009
Description of course
This course will include Yoga Asana classes, Pranayama (breathwork) and meditation by Marianne Jacuzzi and the theme will be Stillness of the mind through Yoga.
A Yoga retreat for all levels, integrating asana, pranayama, meditation
As dawn breaks over the majestic Burren, we awaken to the still clear centre of our being with silent meditation and simple breathing. Then we move into asanas, awakening muscles and tendons, loosening joints and releasing the freedom and spaciousness inherent in our bodies.
Gentle but empowering asana practice, tailored for all levels.
Posture, meditation and breath work to tune into that place of inner stillness.
Yoga techniques for peace and harmony in daily life. Restorative retreat for body and soul.
Sometimes the practice is deep and strong, with a focus upon alignment, holdings or flow. Sometimes it is gentle and restorative, connecting us with our roots. All types of poses are included, as appropriate, with breath an integral part of everything. Beginners are welcome, yet more experienced practitioners are challenged too, learning techniques to move past physical and energetic blocks.
Each retreat focuses upon a particular theme from the vast subject of yoga, with plenty of time in the afternoon sessions for questions and discussion.
We have lots of fun too. Outdoor adventures on the Burren, visits to quaint towns, time to unwind and connect with others, fabulous vegetarian food, fresh air, and the serene, wild beauty of this mystical, powerful land are all part of the experience. Come to the Burren and feel the magic yourself!
Stillness
The theme for the yoga will be '
Stillness'
Drawing from the deep wisdom of the yoga tradition, as well as other sources, this retreat will explore the meaning of "stillness" -- both its cosmic and human dimension.
One of the ancient Indian texts 'The Bhagavad Gita' says
yoga is "equanimity of mind".
This ancient text also says yoga is "perfection in action".
What seems to be a paradox, yoga resolves.
Together we will see how yoga means living always from a place of peace and harmony.
Cost of the course
The cost of the course is €320 and includes accommodation and vegetarian meals.
The food is cooked by Paddi the gourmet vegetarian chef who ran Seventh Heaven the well known restuarant in Galway city.
A single room costs €60 extra.
Additional nights stay at the centre
To avail of a cheaper flight you may like to stay an extra night or two. Cost is €35 per night. No meals included.
Who is the course suitable for
Suitable for beginners to intermediate. Also yoga stillness brought into the retreat in a heartfelt way. Lovely to engage in yoga within this broader focus on peacefulness.
