Description of this hatha yoga summer retreat
Re-jouvinate yourself on a Summer week spent in the beautiful Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre on the west coast of Ireland.
It's possible to attend from Friday evening until Sunday, Monday... or until following Thursday noon. See prices above.
Enjoy a week of energizing yoga, amazing vegetarian food, and daily organized outdoor walks in the hills and by the sea. Optional activities of surfing, sailing and canoeing. A beautiful way to spend a week with an energized and refreshed and healthy state of body, mind and soul.
The week long retreat consists of Hatha yoga classes, pranayama (breathing) and meditation with the very experienced Niamh Jones.
This course will be reasonably gentle, but will also challenge each person to work with the postures to their own ability.
It is suitable for complete beginners to those with a few years yoga experience.
Description of this August summer yoga retreatEach day begins with some Pranayama (breath work) and meditation.
Beginners will be introduced gradually to meditation, which will deepen and lengthen in practice over the week. The start of the week will be quite short and accessible to all.

This lovely beginning to each day brings us inwards and much more in touch with our inner nature.
While still in this tranquil peaceful space, Niamh will then lead you through a beautiful energizing and invigorating Hatha yoga class which although reasonably gentle will also challenge every single person in the class to their own ability.

Niamh will teach more gentle variations to those who are less fit, while teaching more advanced versions of the postures to those who are already practicing and those who are more fit. There is no comparison made between course participants and each person is encouraged to practice at their own level.

Niamh has a lovely 'easy manner and soft approach' and will have you practicing postures you thought you would not be able for, and improving your alignment as the week progresses.

The classes are flowing and designed to encourage you to both enjoy your yoga practice, but also to help get in touch with 'the inner self'.

Niamh's yoga classes are ideally matched with the pranayama and meditation to compliment each other but also to do so in a enjoyable and rejuvenating way.

During the week the group can decide whether they would like to experience a Bikram yoga or a Vinyasa flow class.

After the morning hatha yoga class, we have breakfast and go out for an organized outing into the Burren or by the sea. These outings are great fun, and a lovely way to get to know the other course participants on the course.
To get a good idea of what the week will be like, it is a good idea to see the 6 minute video on the home page

Who is the course suitable for
This course is suitable for all leaves from beginners as well as those who have been practicing for a few years.
Niamh is a very experienced teacher and will give more gentle variations to complete beginners, while giving stronger more challenging alternatives to those who are experienced and ready to go deeper.
Instructor
Niamh Jones is a very dedicated yoga teacher and practitioner.
She has a lovely 'easy going personality' and takes the time with each person to ensure they understand the practices that she is teaching and also encourages each person in a wonderful way to reach towards your own potential.

Niamh Jones is from Co. Meath origionally, and moved to Galway in 2001.
She lived in San Fransisco for a while where she completed her Bikram teacher training course.
Two years later Niamh also completed a separate Ashtanga yoga teacher training.
Since then she teaches Hatha yoga and is able to draw upon her experience of the stronger Ashtanga yoga while still having a huge experience of teaching softer and more accessible variations of the postures to beginners or those who are less fit.

Niamh's Bikram and Ashtanga experience also give her the ability to teach stronger and more challenging sequences to those in the class who are able for it.

Niamh has taught many times at the Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre in the past few years, and also attend many of the weekend workshops we have here at the centre.

Niamh's classes are tuned to each person within the class, so that each person practices to their own ability. The classes are a combination of getting in touch with one's inner self, letting go of external stresses, and are also challenging and fun.

This week is an ideal week to energise, let go and feel rejuvenated!
