Instructors
Dave Brocklebank designed and built this beautiful purpose designed yoga centre in 1999 with the view to provide an ideal environment for people to learn and deepen their practice of yoga and meditation in a quality and enjoyable way.
He began meditating in 1978 and began practising Yoga in 1989 with the Galway school of Yoga and Meditation which is Satyananda based.
He completed the 2-year Satyananda yoga teacher training with Shradhmurti and Chetanmurti in the Galway school of Yoga and Meditation. He has attended numberous workshops since then (too many to mention) with teachers of many traditions from all over the world.

His classes begin with very gentle loosening up postures which help prepare the body for the stronger postures which are introduced after a number of months.
Dave takes care that each person understands each posture and gives advice on adapting the posture to suit your own level and where you are at in this present moment.

He introduces Pranayama right from day one, and a large emphasis is placed on the awareness of the practitioner rather than their physical ability.

Some of the postures are stronger, and help with the alignment of the body.

On this may Bank holiday retreat Dave will give clear guidelines on each posture,

but each person works within their own limitations, and there are no caparisons made between people.

As each person becomes more familiar with the postures, gradually their body opens up

Dave also gives individual guidance when it can be of benefit.

His experience with Iyengar and Astanga yoga bring a detailed approach to correct alignment of the body in order to assume the posture while respecting the limits of one's body.

In addition to Dave's yoga lifestyle, he also attends Buddhist teachings and tries to bring these teachings into his own life and dealings with people.

Dave runs the Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre, co-ordinating courses, facilitating workshops and teaching Yoga and Meditation himself. He also maintains his own daily practice of Yoga and Meditation, and regularly attends Yoga workshops throughout the year.

Dave, how lovely to get your prompt email which helped extend the magic of the weekend for me. I actually got on my mat yesterday and listened to your soothing voice on my cd. I especially liked your opening sentence on where the cd was made. I was there!
You were absolutely right to put us through a similar routine each day and now to have it replicated at the touch of a button works like magic. Today I repeated the practice and actually looked forward to getting up for the routine. So I'm on a roll, my mind thinks, and I am eternally grateful to you to have kick started me on the journey. My daily yoga practice will take a bit of time to adjust to this new entre! But I'll work on it.
It was such a special weekend and I felt right at home in your lovely centre and being with a most agreeable bunch of mature young women. It's not always easy being the senior yogin! I salute you for your dedication, warmth and hospitality and it was great that Eri and Shanti were able to be participate too, even if in a small way. It added the necessary grounding in everyday life to our practice ( which can often become overly detatched from reality) You are a lucky person to have such precious people to share you life.
The Burren trips added that extra dimension of awe inspiring beauty and timelessness, a salutary reminder of the transient nature of our human existance. I could go on and on!
But last and by no means least, was the simple joy of having a delicious meal to look forward to each evening. Paddi is a gem and I look forward to trying out some of her delicious recipes when my grandchildren come in June.
And of course there was Grainne, whose livliness, helpfullness and sense of fun lent a special energy to my own practice. A big hug to her.
I will spread the word David and will think too about your fundraising for the new building. Heartfelt thanks again and please keep me in the loop.
Warmest best wishes and love,

Dear Dave
I put a card in the post to you today to say 'thankyou' but in the meantime here is some feedback on the week end .
I did say this in person to you but for me your tuition was excellent. For someone with a rather limited knowledge of yoga in action I needed the step by step precise vocal prompt/instruction on the postures and breathing to keep me in the right direction and to support me to stay close and present to the process.
The sessions often followed a similar sequence, lying down (body awareness, and awareness of thoughts and one's wider awareness) and then into breath awareness etc. This over the sessions laid down and re enforced a 'way of practicing' and also a series of movements which is something I can carry on with.
Your CD which I got from you further does this. Also the pictures on the website are an excellent idea and help for the postures. I wanted something that I could take away with me and I got just that.
For me the branch of yoga was just right because of its holistic nature. The meditation was valuable as I learned new aspects which will enhance my own meditation practice such as sitting posture. ( I have sent away for my cushion).
Finally, the centre is perfectly located in the sticks and stones of the Burren. Thank you for your hospitality, genorousity and openness and thanks also to Grainne and Paddy for all their input to making the weekend run well and smoothly.
And I am still reeling from the Buddist Monk in the DVD doing his yoga. I have never seen the likes........... thank you for showing this DVD especially as these practices have been hidden from the outside world for so many centuries.....
So bye for now, best wishes and thanks again and hopefully I will get back for more at some point.
Frances
