Description of course
This retreat will provide students with daily opportunities to relax, meditate and work through the physical body using practices from the world renowned Satyananda yoga system.
The scheduling of this course right on the transition between Summer and Autumn has given rise to it’s theme and content. The concepts of transition and change and our relationship to them, and the practical help yoga can bring to us as we move through periods of change in our lives provide the theme to this course.
The backdrop to this lovely relaxing course is a sumptuous week of Yoga practices, fabulous food and great company and with daily organised outings into the ever beautiful Burren and by the sea to round it all off.
Over what will be a relaxing and an enjoyable week at the Burren Yoga and Meditation centre, the course gives you the tools to cope with, or to bring about, change in your life and over your time here you can begin a process of freeing yourself from limiting mental and emotional patterns and behaviour – a process which you will be encouraged to continue after you leave.
This course would be very suitable for anyone going through change in their lives or wishing to bring about change. This could include
- People changing jobs
- People about to retire
- People dealing with changes in their health
- People about to undertake a course of study
- People wanting to improve their health and peace of mind
- People who have moved from another city
- Anyone transitioning into or out of a relationship
- Parents whose children are leaving home (or coming back as adults)
- Young adults who are moving out of home or to a new city and possible new way of life
- People wanting to change their lifestyle
- Basically anyone and everyone because we are all in a state of constant change
There is an old proverb
"When the winds of change come blowing, some people build up barriers...... others build windmills " ;-)The course will include yoga postures (Asana), techniques of the breath (Pranayama), meditations, deep relaxations and other mindfulness based practices presented in an enjoyable way that is easy to grasp for all levels of experience and fitness from complete beginner onward.
The practices used are taken from the Satyananda yoga system which is widely available throughout Ireland and worldwide making it easier to continue once you are closer to home. All the practices will be presented with an emphasis on continuing at home after the course.
Taking the opportunity to incorporate some yoga practices into our lifestyle often brings about a shift in emphasis to the positive benefits that the yoga brings, and away from fears we may have around the change itself. By putting a framework of practical yogic techniques in place the difficulties associated with the transition can be seen in a new light and worries that things will not work out are often reduced in potency.
Sometimes we crave change. Other times we dread it. Either way, we can't escape it. A yoga practice can help show us how to live with it—and learn from it. If you would like to learn more
Join us at the Burren yoga and Meditation centre for what promises to be a worthwhile, relaxing and practical yoga retreat. There will also be organised outdoor trips into the Burren each day.

Instructor
Tadhg Ferriter is in his mid forties, and practiced from many yoga styles before discovering Satyananda yoga in the mid 90’s. Like many students of yoga he was first attracted to the relaxing benefits the postures brought to the busy lifestyle and demanding career path he found himself on.

After completing his training as a Satyananda teacher with Swami Shraddha Murti and Swami Chetan Murti Tadhg visited Swami Niranjanananda who is leader of Satyananda Yoga worldwide and resides in his Ashram in North East India.
Tadhg is very inspired by Niranjananda and his time spent in India, and he regularly attends further training and yoga courses, seminars, and yoga gatherings both in Ireland and abroad.
With three young children and a distinguished career in management Tadhg has direct experience of integrating a successful vibrant personal yoga practice into a busy modern lifestyle. Much of his work as a teacher aims to facilitate others to reap the benefits of doing the same in their own lives.
Tadhg’s daily yoga practice, teaching and yogic lifestyle are guided by the principles of the Satyananda yoga system.

Swami Satyananda describes yoga as
"a higher form of common sense, a pure and precise science which evolves from within. To live yoga is to be in harmony with oneself." While asana (yoga postures) of appropriate strength for the each individual student are important for progressing, the use of Pranayma (work with the Breath) and meditation are also considered necessary from an early stage in the Satyananda system.

Satyananda yoga teachers are trained to the highest standard, with regular in-service training and assessment. The teaching diploma is recognised by Yoga Federation Ireland (YFI), Bihar School of Yoga (Satyananda Yoga) and the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY). These qualifications are approved and recognised worldwide.
Tadhg has also travelled to the Satyananda yoga ashram in India, and brings back the heart felt approach and into his classes and his life.

Tadhg specialises in the integration of yoga into everyday life and encourages students in an open and sensitive way to work with themselves as they are and in the situation they find themselves in.
