Finding a good yoga teacher or a good yoga class
I hope the new section listed above gives you good information on yoga teachers in your area, and helps you find a suitable yoga class for yourself.
You are entitled to a good yoga teacher, so please take the responsibility to ask your new potential teacher a few questions.
If the person is not happy to answer these questions or is vague in any way, it may indicate they do not have a reputable teacher training qualification.
There are an increasing number of people setting themselves up as teachers of yoga, who are not properly trained, and some of these classes can be dangerous, others a waste of time, and others not effective because the person in the teaching position just does not have the experience required.
Please remember to ask any yoga teacher who is new to you
- What type of yoga do they teach
- Where did they study Do not accept an answer like India or the States, ask for the name of the training institute, and city and address
- How long their traing course was. All reputable teacher training courses are at least 2 years long. Some people set themselves up after a short 2 week training course in India.
- How long are they teaching yoga.
- How long are they practicing yoga. This should be at least 5 years more than the length of time they are teaching.
- Do they continue to attend yoga workshops and courses themselves, and if so, where and which ones. All practicing yoga teachers need to continue to practice and train.
- Who are their teachers
