Yoga for fitness and sport
Many people take up and practice yoga for many different reasons.
Although i feel that yoga is such a precious body of knowledge, and has the ability to transform one's whole being on many levels unknown to the intellect, there are also many other ways to look at yoga.
Many people take up yoga for many different reasons. Some people take up yoga as a means to get fit, or to improve their fitness, or even to practice it like a sport.
No matter what a person's motivation is, if they practice yoga with a genuine teacher who has practiced themselves for many years, and has themselves trained and studied under quality yoga teachers, then one is sure to benefit from the practice of yoga in many many ways which were not previously considered when the person took up yoga.
So if someone would like to take up yoga in order to lose weight or to look sexy, i would not discourage them.
I am sure that if they practice yoga, no matter what the motivation, that they will learn and grow. And through contact with gifted teachers, i am sure their aspirations will change and develop as they grow.
