Yoga philosophy
Yoga is an ancient body of knowledge at least 5,000 years old.
Yoga is a very extensive body of knowledge, and contains philosopy pertaining to the meaning of existence, or at least ways to transform oneself, attain happiness and help others.
The philosophy of yoga is interpreted by many teachers in different ways, so in order to get a good grasp, and an unbiaded view of the philosophy of yoga, it is important to investigae yoga theory and philosophy from many different schools, and also in time after years and decaded of one's own daily practice to come to your own realizations and your own model on what yoga deals with.
However, i believe that it is useful to bear in mind that many of the ancient descriptions of yoga philosophy were consructed and discovered by very realized seers who spend most of their waking days in meditation, and other yoga related activities, that we need to be careful that our own ideas and our own viewpoints are not just rationalations put forward be our own minds or by the ego functioning of our intellect.
That is not to say that we should not question, and test out for ourselves any old philosophies of yoga, or to try out new models and new approaches, but it is useful to also question oneself, as much as we question others.
Ultimately through honest and brave effort and sustained daily practice, thruth will shine forth. And studying yoga philosophy can be useful to some temperaments of people, especially those who are intellectually inclined.
