February 2009 Hatha yoga with Debbie Corradino
A fantastic weekend of Hatha Yoga with Debbie Corradino, beautiful weather sunny skies, cold and crisp, frost in the morning, even some snow on Sunday morning, great outdoor walk and hill climb up Mulloughmore, amazing vegetarian food by Paddi the chef, great fun and making friends with other like minded people, visiting Linnane's Lobster bar for lunch by the sea, more great yoga, more of Paddi's food....... hmmmmmm
A couple of people were hesitant about coming to the west, as the roads around Dublin were icy early in the day on Friday.
But by noon, all the roads were clear and our happy bunch of 10 people, all travelled from many parts of the country and all the roads were clear and fine.
A beautiful meal was prepared by Paddi the chef on Friday evening. This is a great way to arrive, settle in and get to know everyone and treating ourselves to great tasting healthy vegetarian food.
On Saturday morning Debbie taught a Hatha yoga class and also pranayama and meditation.

The course participants loved Debbie's clear and informative account of the postures, and how to practice them, and common faults to look out for.

A couple of people were worried as they had not been to Burren Yoga before, and as the weather was cold one person brough a blanket with her.
Just after she arrived she said that she was amazed at how warm and comfortable the place was, and that the under-floor heating everywhere made the centre so warm and welcoming. Needless to say, she did not need any extra blanket ;-)

And this yoga room is a lovely place to practice yoga. Warm and uplifting, very clear energies partly due to a couple of different Tibetan Lama's who have performed energy heightening and blessed the centre when they stayed here.
One Lama sat outside the yoga room performing a long ceremony, chanting and doing various blessings, and the change one could feel in the centre afterwards was huge.
The ceiling to flooor windows look out onto greenery and the hills, no traffic, no cars, just the peaceful countryside and Debbie's clear instruction.

After showers and breakfast we headed out in 3 seperate cars for our outdoor adventure.
Wow.... this is Father Ted's house. On the summer courses we often go inside for tea and scones.....

We parked the cars near the spectacalour hill of Muloughmore.

The Turlough at the foot of Mulloughmore is one of the 'disappearing lakes' which fill depending on the water table of the area, and the level can vary quite dramatically over a few days.

So the group setoff on their hill walk over this very unusual terrain, of limestone rock with grassy patches which are dotted with the famous Burren wild flowers from May onwards.

I wonder if the weather is as nice as this in Dublin ?

It's lovely to stop every now and then just to take in the surrounds. No farm machinery that one often hears in the country side, no cars or buses, just the slight wind, and the silence of this beautiful place.

A quick pose for the camera ;-)

It is difficult not to smile in such a spectacolour place.

Dave believes that this match of time spent in Nature, combined with the best of yoga instruction, great vegetarian food and comfortable surroundings are what helps people to return to Burren Yoga time and time again.
This time in Nature is like food for the soul.

This is the most difficult and challenging climb that we do on any of our courses. It takes 60 minutes to reach the top.
As all our course participnats on this particular weekend were reasonably young, we decided to do this challenging climb.

The 360 degree veiws are breathtaking.

Sometimes we need no words.

A peace has descended.

These photos can only offer a hint of the beauty of this area.

In the distance is Lough Bunny where we often go swimming in the summer.
Most of the water is only up to one's chest, and the lake becomes quite warm after a few days of sunshine.

It's easier coming down, than climbing up ;-)

Getting to the top of this hill, and now climbing back down brings such a great feeling.

What beautiful weather for February.

And one last look at the beauty of Mulloughmore hill before we set off for the sea.

After we return to the cars, we drove to the sea to Linnane's Lobster bar.
The food is amazing at this seaside eating place, and it's time to put the feet up and enjoy.

After the meal we returned to the centre for another class with Debbie.
After that more great food by Paddi.
And in the evening another class with Debbie.
Hey.... and it is still only Saturday.....
We hope to see you here soon on one of our courses.
Best Wishes,
Dave
