Buddhist yoga
Tibetan Heart Yoga and the Classic Texts of
Yoga Philosophy
June 9th - 16th 2006
Attending the course part time or the full residential week
We have accommodation for 15 people to attend the full week.
It is also possible for people to attend the 'Classics of Yoga classes' without staying at the centre.
Last year Lama Brian Smith gave some enlightening lectures on the
Yoga Sutra Chapter One : The Chapter on
Meditation.
This year, he will give lecture style presentations on
"Chapter Two of the Yoga Sutras: The Chapter on the Way".
Photos from Brian's course 2005 + photos of other courseDescription of course
We will do asana, pranayaman, meditation, Sanskrit basics and lots of philosophy about the nature of reality, how it all works, and why we each experience the world
the way we do.
Its very wonderful and beautiful, offering a profound translation of Chapter Two of the Yoga Sutra by Geshe Michael which makes the ultimate goals of yoga understandable and applicable to our real lives.
The Heart Yoga classes work from the inside with thoughts and the outside with breath and physical poses, combining the inner and outer methods into a powerful yoga practice that opens the heart, enhances wisdom, and strengthens the body.
This Yoga is a reuniting of two ancient lineages of Yoga: the wisdom teachings of Tibet and the physical teachings
of India.

Who is the course suitable for
This course is open to all. Whether you have never heard any Buddhist teachings before, whether you have not practiced yoga before, or if you have been studying Buddhist teachers for years or a yoga expert for that matter.
This week will be a tranquil retreat, with lecture style teachings, as well as the physical yoga classes, and the usual outdoors in the Burren.
The lectures will be based on Geshe Michael's interpretation of Patanjali's Yoga Sutra.
