Healthy yoga wellness retreat
All our courses are an ideal way to improve your wellness and your health, and they all include time spent walking in the Burren hills or by the sea, appreciating Nature and also visiting some of the local attractions such as the The Ailwee caves, The hermit’s cave and many other places.
These yoga wellness retreats are an ideal opportunity to go to take a break from your everyday life, and also to take time to look after your health and fitness.
Most people come on their own, and all our courses are limited to 15 people. It is very easy to get to know others and the atmosphere is friendly, informal and relaxed.
The location is in one of the most beautiful magical locations in Ireland. The Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre is a remote yoga retreat centre on the west coast of Ireland, where there are little or no people living in the surrounding area, where you are surrounded by Nature and spend time out in the surrounding countryside each day…. the benefits you receive are much deeper and longer lasting.
Our yoga holiday breaks in the Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre on the West coast of Ireland range from very gentle yoga courses to very strong and energetic yoga courses.
We also offer Gentle yoga and Healthy Detox courses, and also courses on Vegetarian cooking.
All ages on our wellness retreats
Some people are young, some are in their sixties, we have had a few 14 year olds with their mum, and a granny in her seventies who would put us all to shame.
Most people are in their 20’s, 30’s or 40’s.

What type of yoga is best for me ?
Techniques to relax for your wellbeing
Satyananda says “Modern man needs to know systematic techniques that specifically induce relaxation”.
Relaxation techniques start by taking your consciousness away from emotionally charged thoughts and directing it to activities that are emotionally neutral such as awareness of your breath or different parts of your body. It is almost impossible for anyone to remain or to become tense and angry when their attention is directed towards their big toe.
Complete beginners to teachers
Some people are fit and practice Ashtanga every day, attending two classes per week, and want to take a week’s holiday while getting very good individual attention from the top class teachers we have here on the courses. When an experienced teacher works with a small group of 15 people every day for 7 days, its amazing how your practice can improve in leaps and bounds.
Some people are over weight, not fit, and chose a more gentle weekend where the yoga is less streneous. These weekends include more gentle stretches, breath work and relaxation techniques, a few stronger postures to present a challenge without any pressure on anyone to keep up with anyone else in the class.
Some are yoga teachers or well seasoned practitioners who value the chance to attend a good quality 7 day retreat at the Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre.
No competition on our wellness retreat
People work at their own pace on our retreats, and every student is treated as an individual working at where they are at, and surmounting the goals and progress that can be expected at their stage and age and fitness. You will feel benefits in your wellness during the course, and will bring home techniques to continue to improve your wellness at home.

“A couple of people have confided with me over the course of a weekend or 7 day course ‘I was a little apprehensive before coming on the weekend, wondering would everyone else on the course be a bit wierd, or would i be the odd one out…… and finding the minute i arrived, the the atmosphere is so down to earth, you can just be at home right away. Other people were just normal, but of all different types, but all got on so well together’
And i am privileged to see this so on many different weekends…. how perfect strangers at the start of a course, can come together so easily and so well, and share living together, going to classes, getting up early in the morning together, eating together, going out on walks and getting to know each other.
