The food on this week will be sugar, wheat and dairy free and will be very nutritious, tasty and healthful.

I believe everyone should listen to their body and find a diet that suits them. It’s important to observe how we react to different foods depending on the season, stress levels, etc, to make necessary adjustments to ensure we deliver all the necessary nutrients our body needs. Keeping our digestive system healthy is first step I focus on when trying to solve any health problem. Karolina

We will give you information you can bring home about Detox and Nutrition so that not only will you experience the transforming effects of the detox, but you will also bring the information home with you so you can incorporate it into your daily life.

The handouts we will give you will help support your understanding of practical ways you can improve your diet and will include tips on foods including those that have an anti-inflammatory effects and which are alkalinising in nature.

Above all else, the food tastes wonderful on this week and is a joy for the senses. You will not be hungry during this week, or wishing for more 😉

The yoga classes will include practice to help support this detox process and also practices that will help energise and stimulate the positive energy within the body, and also restorative practices to aid relaxation and letting go.

The meditation classes will teach you how to gradually train the mind by using a simple breath focussed meditation technique. This will help ring you into the present moment and to ‘become aware’ of one’s thoughts rather than being carried away by them. In time through this practice, you will gradually learn to allow your awareness to rest in the spaces between the thoughts and to all deep feelings of peace and tranquillity to arise.

And the daily guided walks by an experienced guide and the time we spend immersed in Nature is life food for the soul 😉

Description of Detox, Nutrition and Yoga retreat

Feel the Breath, Let go and be guided by Karolina to a place of inner calm

Who is the course suitable for

This week is suitable for everybody and each will receive the right level of information that you are ready for about Nutrition, Detox, Yoga and Meditation, and the inspiration to either take up yoga as a daily practice, or to deepen your understanding and practice and to inspire you to delve deeper and let go to the inner sense of freedom, grace and love that is within every one of us.

This Detox, Nutrition and Yoga week is a fantastic way to detox your body and mind, learn about nutrition and healthy eating, practice yoga and meditation and be taken on daily guided walks into the Burren hills and by the sea with an experienced guide.

The yoga classes will include yoga postures and flowing sequences, restorative yoga, breathing exercises, guided relaxation and mindfulness meditation techniques as well as yoga practices to help the detox process.

There are many different dietary and life-style changes one can make to create a healthy internal environment. Every small adjustment will bring us a step closer to restoring and maintaining internal balance and this week you will learn practical tips to introduce this into your life and bring these tips home with you.

Detoxification is an internal cleansing process which your body does naturally to neutralize, transform or get rid of unwanted materials or toxins. By gradually introducing new habits and nourishing your body and mind, this natural detoxification process becomes more efficient.

The body has multiple systems to eliminate impurities and toxins, including: the skin, colon, kidneys, liver, lymphatic system, blood and the lungs. Along with a healthy fresh food diet and plenty of water, yoga provides the perfect way to give your body this extra support to optimize the detoxification process.

Correct breathing, movement, good circulation, and lower stress, all contribute to a better functioning body, thus more efficient detoxification. Yoga classes offered during our retreat focus on practices that help to restore balance, improve circulation and ensure correct breathing through Pranayama.

The less toxins we consume the less energy our body has to use to remove them. Our chef will prepare healthy, wheat, sugar and dairy free meals, to provide your body with all the nutrients it requires to cleanse itself effectively.

Each morning, after our yoga session, you will be served a drink consisting of warm water, raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar, with a squeeze of lemon and cinnamon.

This combination has wonderful benefits including anti-inflammatory, improvement for metabolism and digestive function, and regulates pH levels. Followed by a nourishing breakfast, this morning routine will set a great tone for the day ahead.

Mental and physical health is fundamentally linked. The meditation practices and our daily guided outings into nature are an integral part of our retreat. Both, meditation and hiking, will provide you with an opportunity to de-stress and immerse yourself in the present moment awareness and also activate your own natural endorphins and good feelings.

This complete package will soothe your senses and your mind and help bring you back into balance with yourself where you can enjoy being in the present moment and the sheer bliss of spending time in Nature in a relaxed and enjoyable way.

And also enjoying the social aspect of spending time with a small group of like-minded people in a very inspiring surrounds of the Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre.

Each morning and also in the evening time, Karolina will teach a meditation class. This is suitable for complete beginners, and she will ensure that each person is given guidance on how to find a comfortable sitting meditation posture. This can be different for each person, and she will ensure that each person is able to use the props in the best way to suit their own body. And also checking that each person’s alignment is correct.

The meditation technique will be a breath focused meditation, and she will explain the practice and give clear instructions for each person to follow.

During her yoga classes, Karolina gives variations on postures so that her classes are suitable for complete beginners, while those more experienced practitioners will be given variations to challenge each person at the appropriate level and also inspirational teaching to help bring understanding and insight into the practices.

This week is suitable for all levels from complete beginners to advanced including yoga teachers and regular practitioners.

There is no comparison made between people, and each person practices at a level which is appropriate to them at the current point in time.

Karolina gives very clear instructions and her classes have a lovely flow to them. Her classes often start with some breathwork, giving good guidance on correct breathing, and then gently bring the breathing and awareness to the postures.

Some of the postures are soft and gentle and these are easier for bringing one’s awareness inwards.

Some postures are more challenging, but one is always encouraged to only practice at the correct level for one’s own body and ability. Karolina will give alternative postures and variations to anyone who needs them.

Karolina will demonstrate and sometimes practice the postures with the class.

And at other times will move around the class giving adjustments if she feels it is appropriate at that time, for the individual person.

Karolina teaches a very balanced class, with some postures lengthening and toning the muscles, while other practices will focus more on building strength and balance.

Her classes consist of classical Hatha Yoga postures which are held for a number of breaths in combination with a well structured Vinyasa Flow that allows students to synchronise movement with their breath.

These Hatha yoga classes remove energy blocks and one can experience a feeling of lightness and enthusiasm.

Through Karolina’s teaching I feel that I have progressed on many levels. From mind quietening and complete relaxation, to better, deeper breathing patterns, to core muscles toning, to improved balance and strength, to increased awareness of self… the list of hugely beneficial aspects of Karolina’s classes could go on forever and a day. Andrea, Cork

She takes time and care to give clear instructions on the alignment to ensure safe practice which gives confidence to her students to practice on their own at home after the retreat.

The morning yoga and meditation classes are followed by a hearty breakfast and then we set out as a group on our guided outings.

Each day Dave who founded the centre in 1999 will bring the group to a special location within the Burren hills or else beside the sea.

This time spent in the beautiful surroundings of the Burren is guaranteed to leave you feeling rejuvenated, refreshed and full of energy on all levels.

The Burren is famous for it’s wild flowers, and it is lovely to see wild orchids during the months from May to September.

The scenery in the Burren is spectacular and the vista is very expansive. The daily guided outings are a great way to spend time in Nature, and to be taken special places in the Burren.

Most people come on their own so it’s a great way to connect with like-minded people and also make new buddies.

Gearoid the food genius will be feeding us amazing vegetarian food and if you have ever wondered what it would be like to be on a weekend veggie retreat rest assured you will be pleasantly surprised and may even get hooked! He has a brilliant reputation for preparing vegetarian food to the highest standard.

While we are on our guided outing, we stop for lunch at one of the best local restaurants or cafes which is a great way to sample the best of the locale cuisine in the Burren.

Dave knows all the best places to eat and is always ready to help with suggestions on the best dishes in each of the local cafes.

We are always very well looked after and the best seats are always reserved for us.

The week will include the following:

      • Asana and Vinyasa – Asanas are yoga postures. Vinyasa is a series of flowing movement sequences co-ordinated with rhythmic breathing. Together, they develop steadiness, strength and vitality as well as fluidity, ease and release. As a result, we feel more at home in our bodies.

      • Pranayama or Breathing Exercises – We are always breathing. Yet, like waves on the shore, footprints or snowflakes, each breath is unique. Paying attention to our breathing is the easiest way to connect to ourselves because the breath is the invisible bridge between the body and the mind. Yoga teaches practical, accessible techniques for finding, observing, and balancing the breath. Consciously tuning in this way gives us a tool to calm the mind. In this way, a sense of balance is available in every breath.

      • Mindfulness Meditation Techniques – Our thoughts are like clouds being blown across the sky, or projections on a movie screen. Even when the weather or the movie changes the sky is always there and the screen remains the same. Yogic wisdom tells us that there is a peaceful, unchanging matrix that supports and sustains everything else. Learning to observe our thoughts in meditation is a way of getting to know our true selves. Our awareness increases which naturally leads to healthier, happier choices in diet, exercise, life-style and relationships.

      • Guided relaxation – Truly, deeply relaxing is an art in itself. Guided relaxation is a simple way to access that state of letting go. We tune into our deepest intentions, needs and desires and the body has more energy to heal and re-generate. My students always tell me they have their best night’s sleep after yoga.

The afternoon class is a great way to let go after our outing into the Burren or by the sea and this is a lovely way to see this spectacular part of Ireland in a nice leisurely way with a very experienced guide.

Each evening Gearoid the cook who used to work in a Hare Krishna restaurant in New York will prepare with love a delicious vegetarian dinner.

Karolina has taught students from 4 to 80 years old and all levels of abilities and I am sure you will love her classes.

Every second afternoon, she will teach an extra restorative yoga class with lovely relaxing postures to help tease out any tension in the body and to help one to relax and let go.

Karolina will use bolsters, blocks and blankets in some of these restorative postures. This will allow the body to rest and replenish itself.

As usual on all of our retreats, Kalolina will be with us on the guided outing and we will all hang out together.

“Keeping our digestive system healthy is first step I focus on when trying to solve any health problem. Thanks to efficient digestion our body is provided with nutrients and energy that will be used for regeneration, repair, fighting infections, etc. Reducing our intake of toxins is a simple way of allowing our body to use the energy it would otherwise use on eliminating those toxins, on other processes, such as repair. Keeping balanced diet, drinking plenty of water, as well as developing a regular yoga and meditation practice, will certainly help maintain equilibrium, both physically and mentally.” – Karolina

Karolina will give you useful tips that will help you get started if you’re not sure where to begin. There will be time dedicated for questions and answers to ensure you can get clarification and better understanding of yoga and nutrition. Karolina hangs out with you each day and comes on the guided outings so there is plenty of time to chat as well as laugh and get to know everybody.

      Karolina –

“I look forward to welcoming you to my retreat, this will be an unforgettable experience!”
