      This retreat is aimed at beginners to the more seasoned yoga practitioner.

      Eileen is a very experienced teacher and can teach as gentle as you would like on this retreat. Or if you prefer, Eileen can also give you more challenging practices.

      Eileen’s calm soothing voice will guide you through the practices and her enthusiasm will encourage you to let go into the present moment.

      Some of her classes are smooth flowing movements coordinated with the breath. While the restorative classes are more ‘resting’ in supported postures using bolsters, blocks and blankets.

      Eileen’s extensive experience and very caring nature will make you feel reassured and will inspire you to let go and follow her guidance as she guides you through a variety of different types of yoga classes this weekend.

      Instructor Bio Eileen Riordan O’Sullivan

      Eileen Riordan O’Sullivan is a very positive minded teacher with a very supportive and caring way about her.

      Her calm voice will guide you through the practices, and her enthusiasm is infectious 😉

      She has been practicing yoga for almost 30 years and currently she teaches a number of different styles of yoga including Hatha Flow yoga, Restorative yoga, and also Vinyasa yoga.

      Eileen believes that yoga is for everybody… no matter what age you are… what level of fitness you have… whether you have a disability or impairment or are in the peak health of your life.

      Eileen trained with Yoga Therapy Ireland and had a lot of experience in teaching people with a wide range of physical abilities and disabilities over the years.

      She has also trained in Restorative Yoga & Advanced Therapeutic Restorative with Judith Hanson Lasater & went on to assist Judith in training 80 teachers with Yoga Campus UK which led to her title Senior Relax & Renew Restorative Yoga Teacher.

      This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as advanced people.

      It is suitable for all ages and all levels of fitness.

      Eileen is a very experienced teacher and can teach as gentle as you would like on this retreat. Or if you prefer, Eileen can also give you more challenging practices.

      Treat yourself to a stress free weekend of energizing yoga, relaxing yoga, calming meditation, relaxing yoga nidra, amazing vegetarian food, and a guided outdoor walk in the hills or by the sea.

      An ideal weekend in February to let go of the stresses and strains of everyday life and to let go into a very peaceful and tranquil environment with a gifted teacher and share some time with like minded people.

      Eileen’s teaching is mainly based on smooth flowing movements coordinated with the breath.

      Eileen’s calm clear instructions will guide you through the practices… reminding you of the breath, and encouraging you to coordinate the movements with the breath.

      She uses her experience to weave together classes of flowing postures coordinated with the breath and also restorative yoga classes that allow you to sink into very deep states of relaxation.

      Eileen will remind you to bring your awareness back to the breath which will allow you to go deeper into the experience as one ‘allows and let’s go’ rather than getting caught up in thoughts or with over-exertion.

      The Hatha Flow Yoga class (Sat & Sun morn) will start with Pranayama (breath practise) to ground and center followed by Vinyasa flow sequences- Vinyasa means movements with breath making Yoga essentially a breath focused movement practise or moving meditation.

      Eileen believes that yoga is for everybody… no matter what age you are… what level of fitness you have… whether you have a disability or impairment or peak health & compliment your life.

      Eileen’s hatha flow classes use smooth flowing sequences. Some postures and sequences are very gentle, gradually building up and some of them are quite challenging.

      She always gives variations so that you can challenge yourself a little more, or alternatively you can take it easier and choose the more gentle variations.

      She believes in the importance of including a meditative awareness into the physical practice and utilises awareness of breath, to help bring us into the present moment.

      Eileen teaches a range of different types of yoga, offering variations, for some people this may be soft gentle flowing movements, for others can explore longer ‘holds’ in stronger poses, for others it may be more challenging flowing style practices.

      Eileen mainly teaches a Hatha Flow style and also teaches Restorative yoga as well as meditation.

      Some of her classes can start from small micro movements with awareness, coordinating with the breath, and gradually evolving into bigger global movement, allowing a sense of flow, effortless ease, that encourages each person to adapt to their own body & ability.

      Each person is encouraged to practice at a level that is right for them on that day. There are no comparisons made between people, and each person is encouraged to tune inwards and sense what is appropriate for themselves.

      Mindful movement is about coming back into the present moment, releasing held tension & opportunity to explore blind spots with gentle awareness.

      Using the breath to drop into the body, soothe the nervous system is an integral part of the Yoga practice.

      The meditation will be a breath focused meditation based on the principles of focusing the mind on the flow and quality of the breath.

      This is done in a comfortable seated position to allow free and unhindered movement of the Diaphghram.

      As one progresses this helps the practitioner to relax and become the ‘witness’ of our thoughts rather than controlled by them allowing one to ‘down- regulate’ the nervous system, develop mindfulness and help with better sleep.

      Restorative Yoga uses props to support the body releasing muscular tension & holding in a gentle manner. As the body is supported it is quite effortless & suitable for anyone to open the body.

      This wonderful yoga practice balances an active practice, benefiting digestive, sleep & stress relief.

      This practise will also work on the body’s energetic meridians address stagnation/ depletion and generally balancing our energetic body.

      Beginners will be introduced gradually to meditation, which will deepen and lengthen in practice over the weekend and those wanting to just sit for longer periods will be allowed the space.

      This will be a breath focussed meditation, where one will help keep one’s awareness with the here and now, by gently focussing on the breath.

      The importance of creating a daily home practice resonates through Eileen’s teaching and you will be encouraged and empowered to continue a 10 to 15 minute daily practice when you return home after the retreat.

      Using slow flowing movement each person will be encouraged to create a personal home practice, balanced with gentle supported restorative Yoga, connect intuitively to the body’s intelligence, feel grounded, taking yoga off the mat into daily living.

      It is key that we don’t confine our yoga practice to what we do on our mat. We need to bring it to every waking moment of our day, and allow the benefits and teaching to spill over onto each and every day.

      Cultivating a Meditative practice with gentleness, using the breath to anchor awareness, allows an approachability for all, even those new to Meditation.

      Eileen teaches a breath focused meditation where we become aware of the thoughts, but also stand back from them. Instead of being carried away by the thoughts, we use the anchor of the breath to become aware of them and allow them to come and go. And in time with practice, we become more aware of those gaps between the thoughts.


      On Saturday after breakfast, Dave will lead the group on a guided outing and we will either do a hill walk in the Burren hills or a walk by the sea. All these activities are optional.



      These guided outings are an important part of each eco yoga retreat and it is a lovely way to see some special places in the Burren well away from the usual tourist places.



      Spending time in Nature is like food for the soul.



      The secret forest has been described by one visitor as the type of place that fairies and elves live, and when they heard us coming they hid out of sight, but did not have time to take away their fairy veils and magic feelings which fill the air.


      During our guided outing we stop off for lunch at one of the best local restaurants or cafes. One favourite is the Ballyvaughan tea rooms where Stephen Spielberg flew in especially to order the cheese cake.



      The Burren is famous for it’s wild flowers, and it is lovely to see wild orchids during the months from May to September.



      Most people come on their own so it’s a great way to connect with like minded people and also make new buddies.



      Niall the food genius will be feeding us amazing vegetarian food and if you have ever wondered what it would be like to be on a weekend veggie retreat rest assured you will be pleasantly surprised and may even get hooked! He has a brilliant reputation for preparing vegetarian food to the highest standard.

      Eileen has many years now of experience teaching people from different backgrounds, age and level.

      On Friday evening and Saturday evening Niall our chef will prepare “with love” a delicious vegetarian dinner and many people have said they have not eaten vegetarian food as good as this at any restaurant.

      The social aspect of these retreats where you meet like-minded people is a great fun element of the retreat.



      Five years after my first restorative workshop with Eileen, I now enjoy a daily yoga practice and consider myself honoured to have had the opportunity to learn under the tutelage of such a wonderful teacher.
