    • Instructor Bio Lisa Petersen

Lisa Petersen first came across yoga when she spent 2.5 years in India in 2000. Lisa was ‘captured by the Ease, Grace and Peace’ and yoga has become a central part of her life since then.

During her time in India Lisa also began vipassana meditation and naturally began practicing yoga and meditation on her own right from the start as she had plenty of time in India and felt naturally drawn to the practices.

    • I appreciate Lisa´s style of teaching very much, I found her as a kind, very attentive and authentic teacher who displayed a great sense of humour. Her warm calming voice and clear instructions made it easy to join into the awareness of the body when the eyes were closed in inquiries. … Sandra Dietinger, Austria

      Description of Hatha Yoga retreat

Tune in, feel from within and ‘Let Go’ with Lisa

Who is the course suitable for

This week is suitable for everybody and each will receive the right level of information that you are ready for, and the inspiration to either take up yoga as a daily practice, or to deepen your understanding and practice and to inspire you to delve deeper and let go to the inner sense of freedom, grace and love that is within every one of us.

The yoga classes will include yoga postures and flowing sequences, breathing exercises, guided relaxation and mindfulness meditation techniques.

Lisa is a very experienced yoga teacher and also a trainer on yoga teacher training courses and brings a depth of knowledge combined with a very clear understandable way of teaching delivered in a humorous, caring and attentive way.

She gives variations on postures so that her classes are suitable for complete beginners, while those more experienced practitioners will be given variations to challenge each person at the appropriate level and also inspirational teaching to help bring understanding and insight into the practices.

This week is suitable for all levels from complete beginners to advanced including yoga teachers and regular practitioners.

There is no comparison made between people, and each person practices at a level which is appropriate to them at the current point in time.

The morning yoga and meditation classes are followed by a hearty breakfast and then we set out as a group on our guided outings.

Each day Dave who founded the centre in 1999 brings the group to a different special location within the Burren hills or else beside the sea.

Some days we go for hill walks and other days we go for a leisurely stroll by the sea and sometimes take time out to sun bathe or just relax in these beautiful surroundings.

These outings are guaranteed to leave you feeling rejuvenated, refreshed and full of energy on all levels.

Depending on the preferences of the group we may go surfing, kayaking, a boat trip to the Cliffs of Burren, visit the Burren Perfumery or a wide range of other activities and places to see.

These outings are great fun, and a lovely way to get to know the other course participants on the retreat.

Each day on our guided outing, we stop for lunch at one of the best local restaurants or cafes which is a great way to sample the best of the locale cuisine in the Burren.

Dave knows all the best places to eat and is always ready to help with suggestions on the best dishes in each of the local cafes.

We are always very well looked after and the best seats are always reserved for us.

The week will include the following:

      • Asana and Vinyasa – Asanas are yoga postures. Vinyasa is a series of flowing movement sequences co-ordinated with rhythmic breathing. Together, they develop steadiness, strength and vitality as well as fluidity, ease and release. As a result, we feel more at home in our bodies.

      • Pranayama or Breathing Exercises – We are always breathing. Yet, like waves on the shore, footprints or snowflakes, each breath is unique. Paying attention to our breathing is the easiest way to connect to ourselves because the breath is the invisible bridge between the body and the mind. Yoga teaches practical, accessible techniques for finding, observing, and balancing the breath. Consciously tuning in this way gives us a tool to calm the mind. In this way, a sense of balance is available in every breath.

      • Mindfulness Meditation Techniques – Our thoughts are like clouds being blown across the sky, or projections on a movie screen. Even when the weather or the movie changes the sky is always there and the screen remains the same. Yogic wisdom tells us that there is a peaceful, unchanging matrix that supports and sustains everything else. Learning to observe our thoughts in meditation is a way of getting to know our true selves. Our awareness increases which naturally leads to healthier, happier choices in diet, exercise, life-style and relationships.

      • Guided relaxation – Truly, deeply relaxing is an art in itself. Guided relaxation is a simple way to access that state of letting go. We tune into our deepest intentions, needs and desires and the body has more energy to heal and re-generate. My students always tell me they have their best night’s sleep after yoga.

Alternative afternoons we have a long outing into the Burren or by the sea and this is a lovely way to see this spectacular part of Ireland in a nice leisurely way with a very experienced guide.

Each evening we have a delicious dinner prepared by Paddi our famous chef who used to run Seventh Heaven restaurant in Galway city for over 12 years.

Lisa has taught students from 16 to 80 years old including corporate workers, seniors, athletes, womens’ groups and exam students on topics ranging from infertility to stress to chronic pain to inner peace.

Some classes during the week will have standing postures and flowing movements and challenging, while other classes will be more gentle, restorative and more about letting go into the present moment.

And by the end of the week, you will be familiar with many new techniques and practices that you can bring home to your everyday life.
