Instructor Bio Kevin Taplin
Kevin Taplin is from the UK and uses all aspects of yoga to help us let go of stress, learn mindfulness techniques to let go of thoughts and relax while also learning the usual yoga poses in an easing going enjoyable way.
He brings mindfulness and awareness to all his teaching, and this helps bring one’s awareness into the present moment and to help let go of any cares or worries.
Utilising classical yoga techniques including a balanced asana practice, simple pranayama, yoga nidra, and meditation, students will be gently guided back to a wonderful state of balance and wellbeing.
With a philosophy firmly established in ancient Indian non-dual tantra, the concepts and subtle depths of the Yoga Sutras are woven into each class, encouraging mindfulness and self reflection and bringing a deeper understanding of our purpose and place within the Universe.
As Kevin guides you to tune inwards in the present moment, you will begin to feel a sense of peacefulness and calm and he will balance this skilful awakening with humour and a great sense of fun in his classes.

Description of July Mindfulness Hatha flow yoga retreat
Let go, relax, have fun and feel energised with Kevin
Who is this July Mindfulness and Yoga retreat suitable for
This July Mindfulness and Yoga weekend retreat is suitable for all ages and all levels, from complete beginners to advanced.
Each person will be challenged to their own limit, and no comparison will be made between each practitioner.
Kevin’s week mindfulness & yoga retreat focuses on a mindfulness practice within a supportive environment, easily accessible to both newcomers and seasoned yoga practitioners.
Each day begins with a short mindfulness meditation practice and pranayama (breath work).
Beginners will be introduced gradually to mindfulness and meditation, which will deepen and lengthen in practice over the week.
At the start of the week, you will only be sitting for approx 10 minutes at a time. Gradually over the week, as your body loosens up and you find more comfortable ways of sitting, the practice will be extended to approx 20 minutes.
Dave has a Meditation CD available which you can take home with you after the weekend to help you become more firmly established ion your own meditation practice at home after the weekend yoga retreat.
As the week progresses, you will be given guidance on how to bring this mindfulness from your sitting practice, to the rest of your day.
After a lead in morning meditation practice, Kevin will guide you through an enjoyable relaxing but energising yoga class in his mindful way with releases using humour and fun.
Kevin’s yoga classes are suitable for all levels and each person will be challenged to their own ability and level of practice. There is room for each individual to go at their own pace.
Kevin’s hatha yoga classes begin gentle with mindful awareness. Gradually loosening up the body, while at the same time Kevin will guide your awareness to go within… and to get in touch with the present moment.
Gradually ones muscles are stretched as the body limbers up through a range of gentle, challenging and relaxing postures.
Each person practices to their own ability and there is no comparison between retreat participants. These classes are suitable for all ages and all levels of abilities.
Kevin will give adjustments when appropriate to help one’s body to come a little closer into alignment, and so that one gets a little more benefit from the yoga asanas.
Kevin has a great sense of humour, and although one is learning new techniques in a skillful way, he also brings a sense of lightness and fun to the classes.
This is a great week to learn new skills and yoga techniques, to let go of your cares and worries and to spend time with like-minded people in a truly inspirational setting.
Each day after breakfast, Dave will lead the group on a guided outing and we will either do a hill walk in the Burren hills or a walk by the sea.
Depending on the preferences of the group we may also go on a boat trip to see the Cliffs of Moher, or Surf lessons on Fanore beach or some of the other many activities available.
These guided outings are an important part of each eco yoga retreat and it is a lovely way to see some special places in the Burren well away from the usual tourist places.
The secret forest has been described by one visitor as the type of place that fairies and elves live, and when they heard us coming they hid out of sight, but did not have time to take away their fairy veils and magic feelings which fill the air.
During our guided outing we stop off for lunch at one of the best local restaurants or cafes. One favourite is the Ballyvaughan tea rooms where Stephen Spielberg flew in especially to order the cheese cake.
Every second afternoon, when we return to the yoga centre after our guided outing, Kevin will teach another hatha yoga class.
This class will be more restorative and is a great way to remove energy blocks and to simply relax and let go.
During the week Kevin will guide you through a practice of deep relaxation Yoga Nidra. This is a very powerful practice for both relaxation and also releasing any inner conflicts.
Through spending time in the tranquil and peaceful settings of The Burren and Kevin’s careful instruction, you will become more conscious of your inner awareness. This practice teaches how to ‘let go’ of the constant chatter of the mind to rest peacefully in the present moment.
Mindfulness on the yoga mat is taught to prepare the body and mind for meditation.
Each evening Paddi the cook who has been preparing amazing vegetarian food at Burren Yoga for over 11 years will prepare a delicious vegetarian dinner.
If this is your first time to come to Burren Yoga, please be reassured you will not go hungry…. just read the reviews 😉
Kevin is a very grounding yoga teacher assisting you to let go of stress, worries and cares while making it easy for you to enjoy each moment on the yoga mat.
The style of meditation he will guide on this yoga retreat is a form of Mindfulness Meditation.
Ideal for anyone who has done or interested in a mindfulness course or looking to deepen a meditation practice. This technique teaches us to be mindful throughout our daily lives.
The benefits of mediation include:
- Promotes clarity of mind and awareness
- Improves Concentration
- Improves general sense well-being
- Promotes positive thinking
- Removes Stress and Anxiety
- Improves sleep
- Improves ability to live in the present
- Improves your awareness during the physical yoga practice to deepen it
- opens one up to the peace and tranquillity within every moment
- allows a spaciousness to arise within which joy and bliss can awaken
This retreat is also open to anyone who prefers to part-take in the meditation practice and not to take part in the physical yoga classes.
Please know we can accommodate any age or ability and would love anyone to attend the course.
All classes and activities are optional, including the Asana (physical) practice although I would like to encourage people to give it a go.
As there is room for each individual to go at their own pace this course is open to both beginners and experienced yoga practitioners.
