    • Instructor Bio Simone Meschnig

Simone, originally from Austria, has always been ’in motion‘. Through the inspiration of her father – aged 68 and still a gymnastics teacher – she enjoyed moving her body from an early age.

During her studies of History of Art, she got introduced to Yoga. She fell so in love with this practise of body-mind-work that she decided to deepen her knowledge and practise by completing a 2-year Yoga teacher training course in Vienna, as she wanted to share her experience with others too.

In 2008, she moved to Dublin, Ireland in order to broaden her horizon and see from different perspectives. Over the years she has completed a number of Yoga and Meditation Teacher trainings in Austria, Germany and Ireland.

Inspired by many different yoga teachers and styles (and languages), Simone found her own way of teaching. Her style is characterised by a combination of Hatha Yoga and dynamic flowing movements with emphasis on a consciously directed breath.

Simone is offering a space to her Yoga students where they can be as they truly are, go at their own pace, try out new things and get in touch with their boundaries as well as new prospects.

This allows you not only to deepen your practise and understanding of Yoga, but it also inspires your heart to create tangible change on and off your Yoga mat, so you can live a healthier and happier life.

Elements like mindfulness, strength and silence are also parts of Simone’s class, as are joy, humour and lightness. Furthermore, a love for music and sound, especially Tibetan Singing Bowls and chanting Mantras, is accompanying her Yoga and meditation classes.

Currently Simone is teaching Restorative Yoga at Anahata Yoga Studio in the heart of Dublin. Her Yoga students are delighted by her gentle, heart-warming and creative personality, which really comes out in her classes.

Her Yoga students – beginners and regulars – realise that it doesn’t always need to be a ‘hard’ Yoga class, as they are impressed by the gentle power of Restorative and gentle Yoga.

Apart from her regular yoga classes, Simone also offers a variety of workshops such as Sound Meditation, Mantra Chanting, Laughter Yoga and ’Movement and Sound with Runes‘ (Runes Yoga).

Currently she is in Sound Therapy training with the Colour of Sound Institute (UK).

As a multilingual Yoga teacher, Simone is teaching Yoga retreats in Croatia in English and German.

’Taking your experience on the mat into your daily life’

    • I went to Simone’s Yoga class as a total beginner and felt very comfortable from the start. Simone is a very calm and reassuring teacher and I always left her class feeling re-energised and happy…. Anna Winz, Galway

      What is Restorative Yoga?

Restorative Yoga provides healing for both body and mind. It has a particular ability to leave you nourished and well-rested, helping to support you during times of stress and fatigue and when you need to look after yourself the most.

The practice of Restorative Yoga is assisting your body to become less vulnerable to stress-related illnesses and helps you achieve optimal health.

With time and constant practise your fidgety body and restless mind will calm down so that you may find rest in the present moment and abide in peace within. After all, that is what Yoga is all about.

In the Yoga centre, you are spoiled with wide range of props – like blocks, bolsters, blankets, cushions, eye pillows, just to name a few – which support your body to deepen the sense of relaxation and surrender.

Simone encourages you to take your time to make yourself as comfortable as possible on your props and make any necessary adjustments before settling into meditation or restorative practise. Sometimes a small adjustment will determine if practice feels pleasant or painful.

In this beautiful, peaceful and tranquil place you can let go of any stresses and cares of your daily life. With her relaxing voice, Simone creates a space where everybody feels safe and secure enough to let go.

Every evening we finish the day in the same way we started it – with breath awareness followed either by guided meditation or Yoga Nidra.

Yoga Nidra is also known as yogic sleep or sleep of awareness, where the intention is to induce full-body relaxation and a deep meditative state of consciousness. Yoga Nidra allows enough time for everyone to physiologically and psychologically sink into it. There is the space where time stops and stillness washes over and through you.

A big sigh of relief for your body and mind!

As Simone invites you to explore different qualities of your breath and guides you into meditation you will begin to feel a sense of peacefulness and serenity. Beginners to meditation will be gradually introduced to it. Simone will add the wonderful sound of Tibetan Singing Bowls to support the meditation practise.

In sound meditation your focus smoothly shifts from the outer world to the inner world as you practice the art of listening and the art of interacting with the sounds, both around you and within you.

Humans have a fundamental need for harmonic sounds, like the sound of the Singing Bowls. Singing Bowls have a powerful, gentle and mysterious sound that acts as a great elixir, a sound massage for body, mind and soul. The vibrations resonate within every cell of the body, thus awakening vitality, releasing blockages, and restoring balance.

You will also experience the qualities of calmness and clarity in your mind through chanting tones and mantras. Your voice is not just one of the most simple and effective powertools, it’s also free of charge and you can use it anywhere and anytime you want.

The Sufi say ’The voice is the only instrument made by God, all other instruments were made by man.’

The morning class starts with breathing work known as Pranayama followed by meditation practise. With gentle flowing movements we will warm up our muscles and create space in the body to prepare it for relaxation.

Movement will also give the body a chance to shift its restlessness and busyness before settling into a place of stillness. In Restorative Yoga we create ease and openness by using props so that you feel safe to let go and surrender into every pose.

Elements like mindfulness, lightness and silence are part of Simone’s classes – and so are joy and humour.

The classes are suitable for all ages and all levels of ability. Simone is assisting her students with helpful adjustments where needed.

On Friday and Saturday evening Paddi the cook who has been preparing amazing vegetarian food at Burren Yoga for over 11 years will prepare a delicious vegetarian dinner.
