This retreat is suitable for all levels. Some of the classes will have some challenging sequences so this retreat would not be really suitable for someone with injuries or back problems.

Instructor Bio Caragh Egan
Caragh Egan is a very experienced yoga teacher and has been practicing almost 25 years.
Caragh mainly teaches Vinyasa flow yoga which can range from reasonably gentle to quite dynamic flowing sequences.
Caragh completed her yoga teacher training with Marie Quail in Belfast in 2002, and as part of this training, she began to teach her first yoga classes. This training lasted a year and over the year Caragh was able to develop her own practice and teaching as she immersed herself in all aspects of the training.
Also in 2002, Caragh took part in Donna Farhi’s teacher training intensive in Vancouver and this formed a strong connection with Donna’s approach and has led to Caragh attending a number of trainings with Donna over the years.
In 2003, Caragh completed a Sivananda teacher training in Kerala, India. This intensive training covered meditation, asana, philosophy, kirtan and karma yoga.
Caragh has been teaching since 2003 and her style has been distinctively Vinyasa flow ever since. She loves the freedom of movement and the ability to adapt the practice to each individual’s needs.
In 2008 Caragh first trained with Shiva Rea and Shiva’s way of yoga really resonated with her. This lead to a number of trainings with Shiva Rea in Santorini, California, London and Ireland.
Caragh feels that her own teaching is most closely influenced and resembles Shiva Rea’s Prana Vinyasa Flow yoga. Caragh loves the creativity of it, the circular movements, the link to nature and the elements and the combination of breath and movement in an uninterrupted meditative flow.
In 2004 Caragh completed a Prenatal and Postnatal yoga course with Birthlight’s Eryl Holt and Marion Symes and another course in the same area of yoga in the Elbowroom with Melissa Curtis and Lisa Wilkinson in 2008.
Caragh began teaching prenatal yoga in 2004 and definitely credits it with helping her through her own three pregnancies and particularly the birth of her children.
She teaches Active Birth Workshops now to help enable mothers to give birth as naturally as possible and to help them and their birth partner to feel empowered in that amazing journey.
As Caragh’s own kids grew, she was drawn to yoga for children and went back to Melissa at The Elbow Room to train in this area in 2016. She teaches yoga in Montessori and Primary Schools, as well as online from time to time with her own children as able helpers.
Caragh is very interested in bringing yoga to as many people as possible and keeps her classes personable and enjoyable.

Caragh will use her experience to gauge what is appropriate for you, and will modify and adapt the practice so that you will enjoy the practice right from the start.
An ideal weekend in January to start off the New Year, let go of the stresses and strains of everyday life and share some time with like minded people in a very peaceful and tranquil environment with a gifted teacher.
This weekend will energise and help you feel fully alive with Vinyasa flow yoga classes, centering Meditation and deeply relaxing Yoga Nidra and to start the New Year in a very positive way.
Caragh will introduce you to the 3 phase breath, abdominal breath. middle chest breathing and complete yogic breath.
This will help remind each person to use their full lung capacity and to bring this to the asana practice with awareness.
Caragh’s classes are a slow flowing movement with meditative awareness.
We will begin each asana practice by centering, focusing on deepening the breath and tuning into how we are feeling in that moment so that we can move into the practice with compassion for ourselves, understanding what we need.
We will move through simple flowing spinal movements, twists and lunges to warm and prepare the body.
The breath, the movement and the meditative mind combine. Every posture, every movement in a posture is linked to the breath in a continuous flow.
As we move together, coordinating our breath and movement, there is a communal feeling of energy.
Then depending of what the focus on the practice is, we will move through waves of postures, with connecting vinyasas linking each wave. Each wave builds on the previous to gradually open the body.
We will gradually close out the practice through inversions, seated and supine postures.
Finally we rest in savasana, where Caragh will gently guide you to the deep feeling of letting go, before leaving time to deeply rest in stillness and silence.
The meditation will be a breath focused meditation based on the principles of focusing the mind on the flow and quality of the breath.
This is done in a comfortable seated position to allow free and unhindered movement of the Diaphghram.
Caragh will help you to find a comfortable sitting position with good alignment and posture to allow for an open chest cavity and unhindered breathing.
Beginners will be introduced gradually to meditation, which will deepen and lengthen in practice over the weekend and those wanting to just sit for longer periods will be allowed the space.
The afternoon yoga class will be more gentle than the mornings class.
On Saturday after breakfast, Dave will lead the group on a guided outing and we will either do a hill walk in the Burren hills or a walk by the sea. All these activities are optional.
These guided outings are an important part of each eco yoga retreat and it is a lovely way to see some special places in the Burren well away from the usual tourist places.
The secret forest has been described by one visitor as the type of place that fairies and elves live, and when they heard us coming they hid out of sight, but did not have time to take away their fairy veils and magic feelings which fill the air.
During our guided outing we stop off for lunch at one of the best local restaurants or cafes. One favourite is the Ballyvaughan tea rooms where Stephen Spielberg flew in especially to order the cheese cake.
The Burren is a spectacular landscape with a magical and ancient feeling.
The limestone hills are ideal for hill walking, and as these hills plunge into the Atlantic ocean, it is also ideal for walks by the sea.
There is a feeling of spaciousness with wide expansive views to a distant horizon.
Most people come on their own so it’s a great way to connect with like minded people and also make new buddies.
Darren the food genius will be feeding us amazing vegetarian food and if you have ever wondered what it would be like to be on a weekend veggie retreat rest assured you will be pleasantly surprised and may even get hooked! He has a brilliant reputation for preparing vegetarian food to the highest standard.
On Friday evening and Saturday evening Darren our chef will prepare “with love” a delicious vegetarian dinner and many people have said they have not eaten vegetarian food as good as this at any restaurant.

The social aspect of these retreats where you meet like-minded people is a great fun element of the retreat.
Each person is cared for on an individual basis, and each person works at their own level and no comparisons are made between anybody.
