      Instructor Bio Niamh Daly

Niamh Daly has been practicing yoga and meditation for over 20 years and has been teaching yoga for over 15 years.

      Niamh Daly Yin Yoga (22)

Niamh teaches from the heart and is very instinctive about how her classes unfold rather than rigidly sticking to any one school of yoga… or one set formulae of how to teach. Depending on who is in her class at any particular time, she senses what people need, and then intuitively teaches from the heart.

Niamh loves Yin yoga and the ‘long moments’ that this style of yoga gives each person to simply ‘rest within the present moment’, where one is undistracted by endeavouring to complete a shape, and can experience ‘listening within’, and simply let go in the process of inner communication.

      Niamh Daly Yin Yoga (16)

Her classes bring you back to the breath and the present moment. Sensing the body and how you feel on all levels as you sink deeper into the postures and allowing one’s experience to simply unfold, rather than trying to achieve or push oneself too hard.

Niamh then uses this inner awareness to subtly guide each person through the practice. She does this with a lightness and a sense of humour so that her classes are enjoyable as well as relaxing. She encourages each person to be compassionate with themselves, and not to force or strain or over-achieve, but instead to let go, tune inwards and to be guided by their own intuitive layers of their being.

Niamh teaches Yin Inspired Hatha yoga, which brings to the fore the central principles of Yin; compassion; softening; letting enough be enough; and permission to adapt and support as you uncover your body’s needs.

These classes have a lovely balance of enjoying the usual hatha yoga postures and sequences, but with Niamh helping you listen inwards and see where you can soften, where you can choose some or all or none of Niamh’s suggestions, following what is right for you at this present moment.

Who is this weekend Yin Inspired Hatha yoga retreat suitable for

This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as advanced people.

      Niamh Daly Yin Yoga (16)

It is suitable for all ages and all levels of fitness.

Treat yourself to a stress free weekend of Yin Inspired Hatha yoga, Yin yoga, calming meditation, relaxing yoga nidra, amazing vegetarian food, and a guided outdoor walk in the hills or by the sea.

      Niamh Daly Yin Yoga (13)

An ideal weekend in May to let go of the stresses and strains of everyday life and to let go into a very peaceful and tranquil environment with a gifted teacher and share some time with like-minded people.

As we enter the Summer season this weekend is a lovely opportunity to get in touch with your own inner being, to let go of inner tensions, and to experience the joy of being fully alive.

      Niamh Daly Yin Yoga (9)

The Yin Inspired Hatha yoga classes start with Pranayama (breath practise) and allowing the awareness of the breath to let go and to tune inwards.

This awareness of the breath will be carried through into the physical postures and used as a guide to help us to come back into the present moment.

      Niamh Daly Yin Yoga (18)

Niamh then uses this inner awareness to subtly guide each person through the practice. She does this with a lightness and a sense of humour so that her classes are enjoyable as well as relaxing. She encourages each person to be compassionate with themselves, and not to force or strain or over-achieve, but instead to let go, tune inwards and to be guided by their own intuitive layers of their being.

      Niamh Daly Yin Yoga (7)

Each person will be encouraged to respect their own limitations and there is not comparison made between people. Each person will be given adjustments and variations suitable to their own level of fitness.

      Niamh Daly Yin Yoga (12)

Niamh’s classes vary from a range of styles including hatha yoga, yin yoga, restorative yoga, yoga Nidra, breath awareness and meditation. Some of her classes include sun salutation, the normal classical standing postures, seated postures, twists and lying poses. Other classes focus mainly on a Yin yoga practice or restorative yoga practices.

      Niamh Daly Yin Yoga (11)

Niamh loves Yin yoga and the ‘long moments’ that this style of yoga gives each person to simply ‘rest within the present moment’, where one is undistracted by endeavouring to complete a shape, and can experience ‘listening within’, and simply let go in the process of inner communication.

      Niamh Daly Yin Yoga (3)

Niamh loves that Yin yoga takes us away from the goal orientated tendencies to over-achieve or to push too hard, and instead to get more in touch to the ‘letting go’ and the softness of being in the present moment.

      Niamh Daly Yin Yoga (17)

To get in touch with ourselves or a deeper level and how we feel in the here and now… no matter how ordinary, how subtle, or how extraordinary. One important aspect of this practice and how we approach it is that we don’t know where we are going. We don’t have some pre-chosen posture or goal in our mind and try to follow that. It is much more a process of letting go, tuning inwards, and discovering what we find.
This sense of opening oneself and letting go, and the sense of Discovery is an important aspect of Niamh’s classes.

      Niamh Daly Yin Yoga (15)

Niamh also teaches Yoga Nidra ( yogic sleep) which is a guided visualisation deep relaxation techniques which brings you to a very deep state of relaxation. In this state it is then possible for you to give some guidance to your inner self to bring positive results to your life.

      Meditation class Cork

The meditation will be a breath focused meditation based on the principles of focusing the mind on the flow and quality of the breath.

This is done in a comfortable cross legged seated position. Niamh will take the time for each person to find a comfortable sitting posture and show each person how to use the meditation cushions, and foam block props to support the body.

She teaches breath focused meditation which helps to steady one’s awareness, and if we become distracted by a whole train of thought, it is then easier to bring one’s mind back to the inner tranquillity by gently bringing one’s awareness back to the breath.

      Niamh Daly Yin Yoga (18)

As one progresses this helps the practitioner to relax and become the ‘witness’ of our thoughts rather than controlled by them allowing one to let one’s awareness rest in the space between the thoughts and to get in touch with the Spaciousness of the present moment.

The Yin class will consist of long held seated poses where poses will be held typically held for 2 to 4 mins to access the body’s connective tissues, muscles, ligaments and internal fascia. As one stays in the posture, over time one feels the release and acceptance of letting go, and then the Discovery as the practice unfolds different for each individual person.

      Niamh Daly Yin Yoga (14)

This practise will also work on the bodys energetic meridians to address stagnation/ depletion and generally balancing our energetic body.

      Niamh Daly Yin Yoga (6)

Beginners will be introduced gradually to meditation, which will deepen and lengthen in practice over the weekend and those wanting to just sit for longer periods will be allowed the space.

      Niamh Daly Yin Yoga (19)

On Saturday after breakfast, Dave will lead the group on a guided outing and we will either do a hill walk in the Burren hills or a walk by the sea. All these activities are optional.

      Burren Hillwalking holiday

These guided outings are an important part of each eco yoga retreat and it is a lovely way to see some special places in the Burren well away from the usual tourist places.

      Hidden forest walk in Burren

The secret forest has been described by one visitor as the type of place that fairies and elves live, and when they heard us coming they hid out of sight, but did not have time to take away their fairy veils and magic feelings which fill the air.

During our guided outing we stop off for lunch at one of the best local restaurants or cafes. One favourite is the Ballyvaughan tea rooms where Stephen Spielberg flew in especially to order the cheese cake.

      residential yoga weekend

The Burren is famous for it’s wild flowers, and it is lovely to see wild orchids during the months from May to September.

      yoga Ireland classes

Most people come on their own so it’s a great way to connect with like minded people and also make new buddies.

      Ballyavaughan tea rooms

Sam the food genius will be feeding us amazing vegetarian food and if you have ever wondered what it would be like to be on a weekend veggie retreat rest assured you will be pleasantly surprised and may even get hooked! She has a brilliant reputation for preparing vegetarian food to the highest standard.

Niamh has many years now of experience teaching people from different backgrounds, age and level.

She teaches regular classes in Dublin and Wicklow, including workshops and retreats at the Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre.

On Friday evening and Saturday evening Sam will prepare “with love” a delicious vegetarian dinner and many people have said they have not eaten vegetarian food as good as this at any restaurant.

      Cork Yoga Retreat

The social aspect of these retreats where you meet like-minded people is a great fun element of the retreat.

      meeting like minded people

Each person is cared for on an individual basis, and each person works at their own level and no comparisons are made between anybody.

Niamh’s classes are completely balanced for body and mind. The true meaning of a strong yet restorative practice was guided by a practitioner who knows the way around the body from the entrance of the heart Space. The practice reopened a door back into the real meaning of Yoga.
