    Bio Tipperary Yoga Teacher Vedanta

Grainne McLaughlin who’s yogic name is Vedanta, has practiced many different forms of yoga over the years since taking up yoga in the early 90’s.

When Grainne began studying Satyananda Yoga (Bihar School of Yoga) she fell in love with the philosophy and style of this teaching.

She appreciated the richness and depth of the wide range of practices offered by the school and was inspired by her teachers simple approach to life. She realised this was a path she wanted to pursue further.

Grainne completed a two-year teacher training (800hr) with the Galway Yoga and Meditation school under the guidance of Swami’s Shraddha and Chetan Murti and is accredited by the Bihar School of Yoga, India and the British Wheel of Yoga.

Grainne is classically trained in yoga and the emphasis is on the whole person.

The practices are taught in a traditional way; Asana (postures) to balance the body and mind, Pranayama (breathing practices), Mudras (gestures), Bandhas (physical contractions) and Mantra (sound vibrations) influencing energy in the body.

Other practices, including Yoga Nidra a deep relaxation technique and meditation practices, are taught to calm and focus the mind.

Grainne is continually upgrading and learning skills to bring to her students and her community.

She trained in Pregnancy Yoga with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and offers weekly pregnancy and regular classes in North Tipperary.

She also has extensive training and experience in yoga and massage therapy for people with Cancer.

Grainne has visited and participated in daily life in ashrams in India and Europe and was initiated into Karma Sannyasa which means she strives to live a yogic lifestyle full time. A yogic lifestyle is a simplified way of living which utilises the yoga practices and philosophies to ultimately discover the source of endless strength and peace within.

Grainne’s teaching is heartfelt encouraging you to explore your personality in a gentle way as you practice Yoga.

The emphasis is placed on the inner emotional body while allowing and encouraging the body to align with the external postures.

Grainne is a highly skilled complimentary therapist with comprehensive anatomy and physiology training, she works as a therapist in cancer care and end of life.

Grainne is a qualified deep tissue massage therapist and has been in private practice for 17 years. She worked as a therapist in hospice care for nine years and during this time she completed the four year Sacred Art of Living and Dying Anam Cara apprenticeship programme qualifying as an end-of-life care giver.

Grainne continues to train in Yoga and Meditation throughout Europe and India, enriching her teaching techniques and sharing this knowledge with her students.
