- To empower people to bring these practices home with them, so that they continue a 10 to 15 minute practice each day themselves after the retreat.

In more plain terms…
We are seeking a permanent chef / cook at the Burren Yoga & Meditation Centre to work part-time hours.
If you are not available to take on the role permanently, we will consider someone who applies to do this work for the next few months.
The setting is a tranquil relaxed atmosphere yoga retreat centre, and the food is all vegetarian with an emphasis on healthy and tasty eating.
The number of people eating vary from 12 to 16.
The chef will look after preparing and presentation of evening dinner.
The guests do come into the kitchen to help themselves to tea while the chef is preparing the dinner, and also chat to the chef.
The atmosphere of the kitchen is peaceful and relaxed compared to a usual commercial kitchen.
Our current cook has been with us for the past 2 1/2 years, and our previous cook was with us for 14 years until she retired.
We are not interested in someone looking for a job for a few months, and are seeking someone who shares our vision and is will to commit to at least 1 year… preferably at least 2 years.
Hours:
September to May: Mainly weekends
Friday 2:00 – 7:00 pm
Saturday 2:30 – 7:00 pm
Sunday 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
June to August: Mainly week-long
Friday to Wednesday: 2:30 – 7:00 pm
This is quite challenging from the start of June to approx 10th September, where there is only 1 day off per week… Thursdays.
Normally the cook also takes off Wednesday, and one of our back-up chefs does the cooking that day, thus making the post a 5 day working week.
One of our back-up chefs can also cover some days here and there, but we need to arrange this in advance.
Also we have week-long retreats at Christmas 27th Dec – 1st January, New Year 3rd – 9th January, & Easter week from Good Friday to the following Thursday.
Start date:
The position is available when our current chef Niall finishes up in November.
There will be opportunities for a few weekends before then so that you can become familiar with working here, and also to spend some time with Niall in the kitchen.
Personal requirements:
Would ideally suit a positive minded person with a pleasant personality who has experience preparing food for 16 people.
Self-motivated and conscientious
Highly motivated to prepare and present high quality vegetarian meals.
Confident working alone
Reliable and punctual
The person would need to have good social skills and be pleasant and able to converse with guests who may come into the kitchen to make themselves tea.
Needs to be professional in their appearance and their manner.
Comfortable making certain dishes for guests with special dietary requirements.
Please Note:
This position is only realistic for someone who already lives within a 15 mile radius of the Burren Yoga Centre, and who drives a car.
Responsibilities:
Preparing and cooking dinner for 12 to 16 people
Keeping the kitchen clean and inviting while preparing the food
Cleaning up kitchen and making sure it is ready for guests to eat
Setting tables and ensuring presentation is excellent
Maintaining the high standards we have built up over years
Managing the food stock, and ordering of same

We are closed between 24th November and 26th December
We are closed between 10th to 22nd January
We are usually closed between 10th and 24th June
