Sun and Moon symbol
The Sun and Moon logo for the Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre symbolises the balancing of Masculine and Feminine energies, the Pingala and Ida channels, resulting in energy flowing through Sushumna channel leading to Enlightenment, symbolised by the blue Sanskrit symbol Hung which means Wisdom.
As one’s yoga practice deepens, one begins to get more in touch with the internal energies, the chakras and the main energy channels. Over the years one realizes that the balancing of these energies leads to glimpses of Enlightenment.
The key to your practice
The key to our practice is to actually do it.
This may sound surprisingly simple, or even trite.
However, people living in the Western world have a tendency to ‘talk about’ one’s practice, or ‘read about’ one’s practice, or even ‘think about’ doing one’s practice, rather than simply doing it.
And one of the most important ways to practice is to do a little every day. To do 10 to 20 minutes every day of your life, is 10 times better than doing 2 hours once or twice per week.
Inspiration to help us do our daily practice
One small way to help keep you inspired enough to do your daily practice is to go to a weekly yoga class. Over time one will realize that attending a yoga class is not actually your practice.
However it is a great way to inspire you to do your own daily practice each day.
Another way to help inspire you to do your practice is to hear some inspirational quotes from more enlightened people than ourselves. People who have genuinely put in the practice daily over many years.
There is a section on the new website under ‘Blog’ and then ‘Daily Inspiration and Tips’ that are there to help you get daily inspiration. At present there are 2 months of daily quotes from the Dalai Lama on the website. Quotes from more inspirational teachers will be added over the coming months.

Eco yoga retreats and our new website
The new website has partly grown from people’s feedback who came on our retreats over the past 12 years. Many people have told us that yes they expected great quality yoga and meditation instruction. But they were completely taken aback by how big a part is played by the guided outings into the Burren hills and by the sea, spending time in the spectacular unique environment of the Burren, and also the great social aspect of meeting new like minded people many who stay in contact for years after meeting on one of our eco yoga retreats.
The new website is structured so that the first two menu options ‘About‘ and ‘Retreat Holidays‘ contain all the main information that anybody needs to know about coming on one of our retreats.
The next menu ‘Blog‘ is a slightly misleading title in that it contains a repository of information which will be added to over time.
Blog contains information about
- Yoga
- Inspiration quotes and tips to help you with your practice
- Health and yoga
- Paddi’s vegetarian recipes
- Local places of interest that we visit
- Our ethos to preserve the fragile Burren environment and support local community
- Latest News
- Competitions and Special Offers
So this will become an even bigger repository of information over the years, but hopefully is structured correctly to enable you find the information you are looking for, or to simply browse if you have the time.
The menu option ‘Yoga Ireland‘ contains information about as many yoga teachers in Ireland as possible. It is the largest and most comprehensive list of yoga teachers in Ireland, and is a free service setup by Burren Yoga to help people find yoga classes in their own area.
The other sections within ‘Yoga Ireland’ such as yoga teacher training courses and the other sections will be added to and grow over the coming months.
The menu option ‘Other‘ contains all the other things that are offered at Burren Yoga outside our usual Eco Yoga Retreats.
