“A wonderful place to be”
Reviewed 22nd March 2017

I spent a wonderful week of meditation and yoga at the Burren Yoga Retreat during April 2017. This was my second visit to the retreat which is superbly run and organised. The centre draws me back for many reasons including the tranquility of the location; a real rustic down to earth feel with a blend of uplifting spirituality and peace; the exquisite vegetarian food professionally prepared; the day trips to the the beautiful Burren landscape with lunch at the finest local restaurants with menus to suit all tastes. Any one of these is reason enough to come to this wonderful place. Above all it’s the quality of the teaching.

“The Most Unbelievable Weekend”
Reviewed 10th June 2016

I visited The Burren Yoga Retreat for the June bank holiday weekend Yoga Bootcamp with Niamh Jones. I cannot recommend this yoga and meditation centre enough! The centre is located in the beautiful and peaceful Burren, providing the perfect location for a weekend of relaxation.

Dave could not have been more helpful or welcoming to all the guests! The centre itself is clean, comfortable and very homely. The days spent here are filled with great yoga classes, the most amazing vegetarian food and day trips in the Burren.

Niamh Jones was an excellent yoga teacher. Her classes were challenging but suitable for all levels. By the second day I was already reaping the benefits from her classes. She really took the time to get to know each of us and as a result understood what each of us were capable of.

No matter what your reason for attending a yoga retreat at The Burren Yoga Retreat Centre, you are guaranteed to come away feeling relaxed, reenergised and fulfilled! I am already planning my next visit!

“A slice of peace and tranquility”
Reviewed 6th June 2015

I’m still feeling the positive effects of my weekend retreat at the Burren Yoga Centre with Rachel Beare so I figured it was about time I wrote my review.
I am a long-time fan of the centre and it has now become a touchstone of peace in my life, a place to which I know I can return any time I feel I am too caught up in the busyness of the “real world”. I now have a 19 month old in my life and this was my first trip away on my own since he arrived into my life. Although I was a little apprehensive about leaving him, once I arrived into the cosy familiarity of the kitchen at the centre and had a yummy dinner provided for me I had a real sense of feeling at home.
The weekend was so enjoyable, lots of delicious food and lovely company. Rachel is a fantastic teacher, I left at the end of the weekend with a whole new appreciation of postures I have been practising for years. Our group had people who were practised yogis and people for whom this was their first taste of yoga. The beauty of the skilful teaching at the Burren Yoga Centre is that every level is accommodated seamlessly. Rachel is the third teacher that I have been lucky enough to meet at the centre and she is yet another example of the excellent standard of teacher which Dave sources for his Centre.

If it’s time you took a break for yourself, time to revive your body and soul, time to refill your cup then I wholeheartedly recommend a trip to the Burren Yoga Centre

“Stunning outings, high quality yoga, relaxed atmosphere and yummy food!”
Reviewed 11th April 2015

I can highly recommend Burren Yoga. It has everything you want and more. A warm and welcoming atmosphere, delicious vegetarian food, the best yoga teachers (David, you are truly an inspiration!), comfortable beds and relaxing common areas. It is set in a unique and stunning part of Irland which helps you relax even more. I particularly liked the combination of yoga and excursions in the beautiful surroundings which really enhanced the experience. Unfortunately, I fell ill halfway through my retreat (it had nothing to do with the centre I can assure you) but Dave and his team were so wonderfully caring and helpful that I never felt uncomfortable. It is easy to feel very small and lonely and far from home when you are ill, but Buren Yoga has that rare quality of feeling like home away from home. And I haven’t even mentioned the other guests yet! When I read the presentation about the place I honestly thought that there was an over emphasis on all the laughter one could expect in these retreats. But I can promise you that it is all true. I think half of my now strengthened core muscles come from sun salutations and half from all the laughter! I will definitely tell all my friends about this place and I already count myself as one of the regulars.

“An absolutely brilliant experience-you must go”
Reviewed 10th April 2015

Hi. Just back from Easter break at Burren Yoga and it was fantastic. I loved every single second of it. From our wonderful host David to the expert yoga instruction, great food, fantastic day trips and brilliant group of people, this exceeded all my expectations. I went on my own so a bit nervous of what to expect but from my arrival to my departure, it couldn’t have been more welcoming and peaceful. Since coming home I have recommended this place to all of my friends so really do encourage you to go for it. Fantastic!

“Great trip for solo international travellers”
Reviewed 30th March 2015

I visited the Burren Yoga Centre in August 2014 and had an amazing time. As a solo international traveller I wanted to go somewhere safe, where I could enjoy a different culture, good yoga, great vegetarian cuisine and have a balance of relaxation and interesting things to do. My expectations were high. Dave and the Burren Yoga Centre delivered on all of them and more. I didn’t expect to meet such great people and change the way I viewed yoga and myself. This trip changed me and I’m so grateful to Dave for creating such a special place.
I’d recommend this yoga retreat to anyone and everyone. Whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find it here.

“Envigorating, Inspiring and Enlightening”
Reviewed 10th March 2015

My stay at the Burren Yoga and Meditation Centre was truly exceptional. The setting of the Centre in the Burren is tranquil, beautiful and inspirational. Thank you Dave for all you’re kindness, guiding us around the seascape, mountains and lush wooded delights of the area, looking after all our needs, etc. The delicious food by Paddi was abundant, blissful and cleansing. I had been in an accident not long before the retreat, being bucked off a horse putting vertebrae out. This was the best medicine I could have wished for. Our teacher was Rachel Beare who continues to awe, inspire and help me manage, get stronger and heal in this modern busy world. I came away on cloud 9 but with my feet firmly touching the ground! I would highly recommend this Centre to anyone who wants to feel better in their body, mind and soul. Go raibh mile Dave and Namaste x

“ Easter Retreat with David Muehsam”
Reviewed 28th April 2014

I had a wonderful week in the Burren Yoga Centre and feel blessed to have stumbled upon the brochure for the centre. I met some fantastic people and laughed till my heart was full! The outings that Dave organises are brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed the hill walking, swimming, cycling, ferry tour of the Cliffs of Moher and the magical forest.
The environment created by Dave allows the guests completely relax and recharge the batteries. Dave really puts in the effort to make sure the group have a fantastic trip. The yoga and meditation is perfectly balanced with outings and outdoor activities. Its a great opportunity to get really close to nature, Ireland and the Burren. I surprised myself by getting into the water and swimming but it is irresistible.
It goes without saying that the food is divine and you will definitely not be hungry. I highly recommend some time away in the Burren Yoga Centre.

“A vibrant little haven set in Hans Christian Andersen scenery.”
Reviewed 25th Jan 2010

Having experienced yoga holidays in Spain and India, I was wondering if the West of Ireland would prove as dynamic and peaceful. I was not to be disappointed. The ambience of the Centre is one of peace, magic, harmony and hospitality.
The very essence of the Centre allows you to melt into your yoga practice and is so conducive for meditation. Dave’s wish is for everyone to have a ‘lovely time.’ I can guarantee that everybody did. The day trips out to local areas, the wonderful food and the chance to nap and recharge your batteries in between classes were all just so welcome.
This is a place where you can simply get away from your routine, see some beautiful scenery including a night sky rich in stars and know that you will benefit from some amazing yoga instruction. A fantastic start to 2010.

“ Wonderful Yoga, Superb Hospitality”
Reviewed 9th February 2014

The Yoga boot camp weekend was exceptional on all levels. Niamh Jones is a fantastic Teacher and lead the group with the perfect balance of gentle encouragement and limit-challenging guidance. Her extensive knowledge base is both impressive and reassuring, and she connected with all of us at the level we needed to improve.
Dave is the perfect host – from the moment we arrived to the moment we left he ensured that everyone felt comfortable and welcome. His genuine love for the Centre and for those who attend is obvious and unquestionable. Nothing was too much trouble and (even though his wife is about to give birth any day now) he was always around to make sure we had a great experience.
Finally, the food – oh the food!! Paddi’s cooking would make it worth the visit alone! Will definitely return and recommend to friends and family. Poll M, County Kildare

“ A weekend of bliss”
Reviewed 29th January 2014

A weekend in Burren Yoga has recharged my batteries and left me feeling calmer & physically better than I can remember for a long time. It was only a couple of days but it was the perfect form of time out.
I especially enjoyed everyone sitting around chatting with no intrusive texts and calls constantly coming through to mobiles – I think we all felt liberated from the tyranny of our devices! Thanks to Dave, Grainne and Paddi for the wonderful meditation, yoga and delicious food. Hope to return soon.

“ Amazing Again!”
Reviewed 20th November 2013

I went for my second visit to the Burren Yoga Centre at the beginning of October and it was once again, a brilliant experience. Last time I went, it was for a week and I wondered if I could really get to have a proper break on a weekend retreat. I could! I was amazed at how deeply relaxed we all were by the middle of Saturday! It felt like a proper holiday, not a quick weekend trip.
The environment of course helps- it is just such a stunning part of Ireland and the centre has been developed in a way that makes the most of the beautiful scenery with a sitting room upstairs that has a huge window where you can lose yourself in nature, no matter the weather! There were some lovely new touches in the bedrooms- extra shelving space etc.
The owner, Dave, really seems to care about everyone’s experiences and clearly takes any suggestions people make onboard. He has a whole list of upgrades in progress from people’s suggestions- I found it quite amazing! He was as friendly and welcoming as the last time and took us out on another magical walk. The teacher this time was Kevin Taplin. He was really great- the group were mixed levels and he catered to everyone beautifully. He was very approachable and kind in his teaching and I loved how he had tips for integrity of form when in asanas.
After my first visit there in the beginning of August, I developed a daily practice so it was really wonderful to really look at the asanas in an in-depth way. We also did some really powerful and moving meditations and energy work with him. The whole experience was just amazing and I have already booked my next trip there for January!

“ Best getaway ever!”
Reviewed 4th November 2013

I went on a Yoga Boot Camp last weekend and had the most amazing time, I had high expectations and they were all met and some extra. Niamh the Yoga Instructor was brilliant and despite a really mixed group of participants from complete novices to more experienced she made everyone feel part of all the sessions.
Everyone on the website raves about the food and I thought well its going to be good but truly it was amazing, home cooked breads for breakfast, fresh vegetarian delights every evening, with all dietary requirements catered for. The Yoga Nidra and meditation in the evening was extremely relaxing and the walks in the Burren allowed me to see how fabulous Ireland is.
I was most impressed with Dave the owner, I found him extremly friendly, approachable and a real true Yogi. I would thoroughly recommend it and cant wait to go back when hopefully the new centre is built next year.

“ Living example of yogic life and energy a”
Reviewed 20th Aug 2013

Once you step into this space you feel the energy of the rocks and all the meditation, yoga, prayer, laughter and love. Dave exemplifies living a yogic life.
The food is cleansing and nourishing. Meeting people and connecting with souls from around the globe is uplifting and provides a sense of connectedness. The teacher that week was also a David who was knowledgable, adaptable and created a space for individuals of all levels to appreciate yoga and meditation.
There was a beautiful balance of yoga, meditation and time to reflect. The accommodations are comfortable and accessible for those with physical impairments. Of course being in Ireland is a gift in itself. A wonderful Transformative experience.

“Great yoga, beautiful location”
Reviewed 19th May 2012

I was a bit apprehensive heading for the Burren Yoga Centre, as I was going alone, and I hadn’t done yoga before, but neither turned out to be a problem. Everyone else was a solo traveller too, and Dave’s clear instructions and encouragement made the yoga very enjoyable. Yoga and meditation are at the heart of the centre, and I came away with the basics to continue my practice of both, which I wasn’t expecting from just one weekend! The lovely food and the walks in the beautiful Burren are the icing on the cake.
The website is very accurate and helpful, but if you’re new to yoga, I’d recommend that you check with Dave if the type of yoga being taught on the weekend you’re thinking of going is suitable for you – he really wants everyone to get the most they can out of their weekend, and will give you good advice.

“I will definitely be returning, life is too short not to!”
Reviewed 3rd February 2012

As I type I’m wistfully recalling that this time last week I was in the first yoga class of the weekend, embarking on what was another wonderful experience at the Burren Yoga and Meditation centre. To arrive on a cold and dark evening and have one’s senses greeted by the fabulous aromas from Paddi’s kitchen is the ultimate comfort. By the powers of Paddi and Dave combined, the Centre manages to nourish both body and soul.
My weary soul which arrived on Friday evening was certainly lightened by Sunday afternoon, thanks to both of them. Although it felt as if the weekend flew, Dave managed to slot in lots of yoga, meditation, outdoor activities and quiet time. He is the very definition of organisation, which allows his guests to truly relax and leave the hectic world behind.
Our group featured guests with a variance in yoga abilities and ages and this led to an interesting blend, both within the Yoga classes and at the conversations over meal-times.
I left on Sunday afternoon with a feeling that I had deepened my Yoga practice and armed with some invaluable cooking tips from Paddi. I will definitely be returning, life is too short not to!

“Top class Yoga teachers, relaxing atmosphere and lovely people.”
Reviewed 28th February 2009

My stay in November ’08 was my third stay at the Burren Yoga Centre over the past two years. Each stay has been very enjoyable and relaxing. I’ve attend Ciara Cronins Ashtanga weekend course which is quite dynamic as well as Tadhg Ferriters Satynanda course which is at a more relaxed pace. I would highly recommend both teachers. The teachers are very supportive so beginners are catered for as well as advanced students.
Paddi’s vegetarian food is excellent and the atmosphere is warm, friendly and relaxed.
Location is beautiful and ideal for ensuring a complete switch off from daily routines.
